Tacology : From the ancient metate to the Michelin Guide in Mexico City

Description
Discover Mexico City through a cultural and gastronomic experience in small groups, designed to understand the origin, evolution and secrets of Mexico’s most emblematic dish: taco. Along the way we will visit three stops that combine history, tradition and practical learning. We will start in a traditional taqueria to know the origin of the taco, the cooking techniques of its most representative stews and the label to eat it as a real Mexican. Afterwards, we will visit a family space where you will discover the biodiversity of Creole corn, the process of nixtamalization, the variety of chilies and the use of pre-Hispanic tools such as metate and molcajete. We will finish in an establishment recognized by the Michelin Guide for elevating the blockbuster tradition with excellence and authenticity. More than a tasting tour, it is a cultural immersion to understand why taco is a symbol of Mexican identity.

We had a wonderful time on the taco-food tour. The taco selections were delicious and gave us a great taste of local flavors. The small group made the experience more personal and fun, and it was easy to interact with everyone. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared interesting stories about the food and local culture. We had a great time with the group and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mexico City!
All the tacos were excellent on the tour! Our guide Rebecca did an amazing job, and it was her first tour on her own! I highly recommend the horchata!
Tomas was great and showed us some unique taco experiences. Highly recommend.
Thomas was amazing and tacos were delicious!
This is a scam. After payment went through, I sent a message and called the number provided and never received an answer. I showed up at the meeting point and called again, but nothing. They also had my contact info and never reached out. They took my money and never showed up. Fortunately, I booked with Paypal so I can request a refund.
Samantha was a friendly guide with strong English proficiency, we thought she was great. We enjoyed the variety of taco stalls they took us too with just the right amount of walking in between. I would like if the tour had some information about any historic things in the neighborhood, but I know the other tours Kaktus offers are more for that.
Very good tour, very happy with the sites and atmosphere we saw. We did ek tour with Samantha and we really liked her attitude and what she was telling us highly recommended!
