Itinerary

180 min

The excursion will begin with a visit to the Neàpolis in Syracuse, the famous archaeological park in the countryside. The site which also houses the Greek Theater, Dionisio's Ear and the Latomie, among others. The visit will last about an hour and a half.

60 min

The Syracuse and Noto Tour will then take you to the lovely peninsula of Ortigia. From the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, your walk through the typical streets will begin. You will arrive at Piazza Duomo with its beautiful white cathedral "Nativity of Mary Most Holy". Church built on the ancient Greek temple of the goddess Athena. The walk will continue to the Fonte Aretusa and the magnificent promenade. Here in Ortigia we will offer you a rich snack based on Sicilian hot table, accompanied by water and Etna wine. Or, if you prefer, you will have an hour of free time to have lunch in one of the many characteristic restaurants in the alleys of the city.

180 min

After lunch you will continue towards Noto, the last stop of the Syracuse and Noto Tour. Jewel town of Sicilian baroque, UNESCO heritage along with other sites in the Val di Noto. Noto is considered an "open-air museum". Here you will visit its main course entering from the Royal Gate. Continuing you will arrive at the Church of San Francesco from the majestic steps and the Palazzo Ducezio, located in the Piazza del Municipio. Admiring the many churches and the numerous palaces, one cannot but visit the Mother Church with the Bishop's palace and the Church of San Salvatore. A visit to the Nicolaci Palace with its ornamental balconies symbolizing the Neo-Baroque style is also inevitable. Noto is considered the capital of Sicilian baroque and to visit it means to breathe the solemnity of a timeless place that seems to have fixed itself in the soft local stone.

Bus trips Palermo to Siracusa, Noto, Cataniausa to

Bus tickets bought from traveling.com site were easier to understand and included maps showing bus stop locations. The Interbus ticketing process was more confusing and had no maps of the stops.

Giovanni was extremely...

Giovanni was extremely knowledgeable about the area and places visited and was a good communicator. He ensured that any questions were answered and kept things interesting during the ride. Ortigia and Noto are beautiful towns with interesting architecture and history.

An excellent day trip.

An excellent day trip. Lots of history and beautiful architecture. Our guide Danilo was exceptional. He was very informative and worked hard to please everyone in two languages. He was very knowledgeable. We visited the ruins at Neapolis then Ortigia where we walked the town and had some free time. Finally we went to the picturesque town of Noto. Lunch was good at a modest restaurant in Syracuse.

Meeting the past

Even though the places we visit were good, our driver left us without guidance for an hour before we realize that due to the G7 event he cannot park the van. So we had to walk ourselves Ortigia with no guide to explain the highlights of the city.

The Baroque is new.

The trip was well organized. Syracuse was very interesting especially considering the combination of old Greek and Roman ruins with new sculptures. Ortigia had great architecture as well. Particularly like all the numerous Baroque style churches.

Great Experience

Highly recommend this company and the tour. Very informative with enough free time to visit places on your own. Giovanni was an excellent guide. Wished we would have booked all our trips through them.

Syracuse, Ortigia & Noto - feedback

The trip was very pleasant, all the cities are worth-visiting. From my perspective, what can be improved is having a guide that shares more infos (as the description states there is a polyglot guide included). In the tour, we had a driver that would hand us printed information, leave us in specific places and pick us after some time.
