Good cooking. Location was their private home. Different to Western standards. Dishes were good. Samosas were nice. Grilled fish as well.
Personally, what i appreciated the most is how 'real' the experience was; This was not the usual cooking class taillored for tourists in which one listens to a lot of talk and afterwards is escorted to a specific shop to buy overpriced products and spices. In this course, we visited an actual market in Mombasa, where Hawa explained how to pick different exotic fruit. The class is held in a real-life Mombasa home, where Hawa and her lovely mother, both exceptional cooks and patient teachers, guided me as I personally prepared a full three-courses meal (Yes, it is was a real hands-on experience, you don't simply watch as someone else cooks). Last but not least, i would like to specify that even though i was the only participant that day, they held the class anyway and made me feel at home.
