The lLingering garden is different from the Humble Administrator garden and is recommended

The Lingering garden, along with the Humble Administrator garden are the 2 Unesco World Heritage sites in Suzhou. They are quite different in term of garden design from each other. The Lingering garden is smaller, less crowded but still quite crowded in the afternoo, especially if you walk the main path. There are fewer open spaces, more rock gardens. Entrance is not as strict as with the Humble Administrator garden in term of time slot. I bought tickets through Viator but you should shop around for much better deals. You can still buy tickets on site. Entrance is via QR code and although you had to submit passport information, the agents did not check them. With the Humble Administrator garden, your sdvanced reservation ticket is your passport whic the agents will scan. We spent 2.5 hours at the Lingering garden, at our own pace, not with a tour. After visiting this garden, you can visit the nearby Shantang street which is ~1km away. To get there, get a Didi to drive you there from your hotel. It is very cheap. Suzhou metro is cheaper, but the line interchanges can be far (lots of walking) and for a couple you save $1-2 vs Didi.
