Just arrived from the UK after a 12.5hr flight to Singapore, followed by a 2hr flight to the amazing new Angkor International Airport. Got to our hotel rather tired and wondered, have we done the wrong thing jumping straight into a tour, but we had certainly done a wonderful thing. Our driver, John, was early at the hotel to pick us up in a wonderful green US Jeep and off we went with the air billowing around us, well received given it was such a nice day. We went around local parts of Siem Reap, the lesser known back waters through areas where Paddy Field cultivation and Lotus Flower cultivation is key. We even went past a special bird barn for swallows where they farm the used nesting material, quite remarkable. After traversing the muddy tracks where no tour bus would take you, we visited some wonderful temples where we got to watch the local Monks in prayer, wonder the public areas of the temples, before heading up hill to a wonderful view all across the surrounding area to Siem Reap in one direction and Tonle Sap in the other. Clearly a locals favourite as it was filled with local families enjoying an evening of food and a great sunset over stunning views. We then headed back to the hotel with John told us much about the local history and his own life in the surrounding area which was fascinating to hear. All in all, we highly recommend this tour as a great way to see what you wouldn’t normally see, and to finish it off enjoying a cool soft drink or a local beer watching an amazing sky. Thanks for a fantastic introduction to Siem Reap and Cambodia.
Dear Kevin, Many many thanks for your amazing review of your experience with John. We hope you enjoyed your trip to ancient temples in Siem Reap. Wish you all the best. Chansip
Driver was very skilful and flexible. He tried his best to show the sunset but because of the thundery clouds, we were not able too. I’m satisfied as the experience on a jeep is memorable.
