Itinerary
Start your day with an early morning 6am pickup from your Agra hotel or other desired location in Agra. Head to the breathtaking Taj Mahal to see the sunrise over the World Heritage Site. Introduce yourselves to what the Victorian Viceroy Lord Curzon called the “gem of man’s handiwork…the most perfect structure in the world. Built in the 1600s by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in the tribute to the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Just immerse yourself in its amazing architecture, history, and beauty. The magical allure of the Taj Mahal shall definitely be the highlight of your tour. After visiting the Taj Mahal return to your hotel for breakfast and soon after breakfast visit a marble inlay studio (after seeing the exquisite Taj inlays, you must want to know how this marble magic works).
Early afternoon visit the second World Heritage Site of the day, the fascinating Agra Fort (where Shah Jahan was imprisoned for the last years of his life, peering dolefully out at his masterpiece - The Taj Mahal). It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638 and one of the finest Mughal forts in India. The imposing red sandstone fort combines both Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles. Walking through courtyard after courtyard of this palatial red-sandstone and marble fortress, your amazement grows as the scale of what was built here begins to sink in.
After visiting Agra Fort enjoy your lunch at a 5-star Hotel Courtyard by Marriott in a welcoming atmosphere.
This outstanding sandstone and marble tomb commemorates the greatest of the Mughal emperor - Akbar the Great ruled the Mughal kingdom, tripling its empire to include most of the northern half of the Indian subcontinent. His remains (along with those of two of his daughters) can be found at what is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Agra, Akbar's Mausoleum. The tomb complex is captivating for both its fine quality of architecture and its serene garden complex – and it is not as crowded as some of Agra’s more famous sites. Indeed, you are more likely to meet with a herd of deer.
Evening proceed to a Photo Tour of Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh — the moonlit garden — believed to have been designed by Shah Jahan to view the Taj on moonlit nights, far away from the maddening crowd, The garden complex is situated on the left bank of Yamuna opposite to TajMahal. It is a huge square measuring approximately 300x300 m and in straight alignment with the Taj Mahal. The forestry plantations and agricultural fields provide a green forecourt to TajMahal and its reflection in the Yamuna. Here you can witness the sunset over the Taj Mahal. At the end of the day, your guide returns you to your hotel, Agra train station or other desired location in Agra.

I had the best time on the Sunrise Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Akbar's Tomb, and Moonlit Garden Private Tour. This was the second tour that i've booked with PCTI and can happily recommend them to any travellers wanting to experience the history and culture of India. My guide, Rajni Kant, was incredibly knowledgeable and made history come alive with fascinating stories (he's also good with the Dad Jokes and knows all the best angles to photograph the monuments). Seeing the Taj Mahal from each location around Agra was breathtaking and truly unforgettable. The entire tour was well-organized, and the attention to detail was impressive. My driver, Kuldeep, has been travelling with me for a few days on various tour and transport bookings and I am deeply grateful for his kindness and broad knowledge of India's states and culture. He's also good for a laugh on the long drives between sites! As a solo female traveller, I've felt safe and well taken care of at all times on both PCTI tours. I highly recommend this tour and this company to anyone looking for a memorable and enriching experience in Agra!
