We loved our guide and the knowledge provided about the city and local cuisine. However, we try to book a food/drink tour in each city when we travel to learn more about the scene and culture at the beginning of our visit, and to be honest, the quality of the stops was subpar with this tour. The gingerbread shop sampling at the beginning was wonderful, and to see the old wine cellar under the hospital was interesting (though no tastings there, which is ok). The local beer shop with a pretzel and a pour out of a can of beer is not what I would describe as part of a “gourmet” food tour. What surprised us the most is that before the last stop, after 90-95 minutes of the tour and checking into the restaurant, our guide said this is where he leaves us and to enjoy the rest of our day. We enjoyed the charcuterie with fromage and meat and wine pairings, but we did this on our own as if we were having a snack for lunch rather than as if we were on a tour (and honestly, the place was more touristy than we would have picked, e.g. a tourist was cooking tarte flampée when we entered). We were honestly confused and didn’t expect the abrupt ending to the tour, and I didn’t even get the chance to hand the tip to our guide. I really did enjoy aspects of the experience and our guide, but I would book a different tour if I could do this again. It’s expensive for the quality provided.
Florence was delightful company; provided lots of interesting historical information and had a great enthusiasm for the food and wine of the region.
Tour was cancelled half an hour after it was supposed to start. Quite disappointing and lead to some waisted time on a short trip and no opportunity to book another wine/food tour.
Bonjour Hrefna, We sincerely apologize for the disappointment caused by the cancellation of your recent tour. Unfortunately, an unforeseen issue with our guide turn up at the last minute, leading to the cancellation just half an hour before the scheduled start time. We understand the frustration and inconvenience this caused, especially during a short trip. Such situations are rare but can unfortunately occur in the tourism industry. We deeply regret and appologize for the missed opportunity for you to enjoy the wine and food tour. Best, Kevin from Ophorus team
On visiting anywhere new, we also try and take a walking tour and a food/wine tour. This tour was a nice combination of both. We had a lovely wander around some of the sights of Strasbourg along with Florence. We stopped in three places along the way for some food/drink. We learned loads about Strasbourg and didn't need to eat afterwards. I'd definitely recommend this as a way to spend your morning, preferably in the earlier part of your stay in the city.
The tour guide was excellent. It was an enjoyable day. The meet up address was given incorrectly by Viator, requiring a phone call to find the tour guide. I specifically mentioned my cinnamon allergy and Viator failed to provide that information to the tour guide. She had scheduled a stop at a gingerbread shop which required me to wait outside. Shame on Viator. The guide was apologetic; however, not her fault.
Bonjour Margie, Thank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear that you had an enjoyable day and that the tour guide provided an excellent experience. We apologize for the oversight regarding your cinnamon allergy. It is regrettable that we missed this important information to the tour guide. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with an even better experience in the future. Best
Worst food tour we have done - and we have done many. Barely any tastings and the guide left us 20 minutes before the scheduled 2 hr tour, seated at a restaurant before the tasting came out! He said “this is where l leave you”. We looked at each other in bewilderment.
Our guide, Florence, was delightful and informative! We enjoyed gingerbread and wine, Winstub lunch, macaroons, ‘champagne’ from Strasbourg, and walked through Little France.
We experienced a wonderful 2.5 hours with Flo, on our walking tour of Strasbourg, past magnificent buildings and through the lively food markets. Flo imparted on us all sorts of interesting information about the town, its history and the food and wine culture within. Our stops to sample all sorts of treats from gingerbread, cheeses and wines were fun and delicious! Will definitely book again.
