Stonehenge Admission Ticket

Way overpriced (like out of this world), when you can see it 10 Meters further away for free. The exhibition is pathetic and the only good thing is that can see/read everything within 5 minutes.

We visited Stonehenge with friends and family as part of the Windsor Castle /Oxford and Stonehenge tour package . The tour departed from the Victoria Cross station at 8 am. After visiting the historic Windsor Castle and the bustling streets of Oxford , we headed to Stonehenge,which is about 90 minutes from Oxford. The drive was an idyllic trip across the English countryside . Eugene was our tour guide and Mike shepherded the tour bus that took across the scenic countryside. We arrived at the prehistoric megalithic monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England (about 2 miles west of Amesbury and 12 miles from Salisbury) around late afternoon. Hordes of crowds descended upon the area in tour buses and personal cars. We headed to a shuttle bus which took us to the world-renowned site. Stonehenge was built over 1,300 years starting around 3000 BC . Its architectural sophistication, unique interlocking stone joints, and deliberate alignment with the sun during the solstices is a sight to see. We went round the rock structures for about 30 minutes just marveling at these iconic structures. The weather was spectacular for some family pictures. We would have loved to walk to the tour bus from Stonehenge but due to limited time, we had to take the shuttle back to the visitor center. During the entire trip , Eugene managed to regale us with great English humor and insightful information about all the three sites we saw during the day. A great thing about tours like these is you meet so many people from different parts of the world who share their other travel experiences. The weather was perfect , Eugene was amazing and incredible and the views were breathtaking . A must see if you are planning to visit London. The only thing to improve this tour is to ensure more time to visit these sites. (And yes, a water bottle would have been nice for each guest )

As a member of English Heritage, admission is free. That is definitely worth it. You don't have to wait in line for long.

I have wanted to visit Stonehenge for over 30 years and I finally had the opportunity. The sun was shining and it was a lovely visit. I only rated it four stars because of the cost, but as a one off it was a definite piece of english heritage to visit and a lovely day out. It is very disabled friendly around the site however, the toilets were very outdated and sadly not clean. They seemed also to double up as a storage area. I noticed there were lockers available but I am not sure if they were for staff or visitors. I found it extremly busy and quite difficult to enjoy the visitor centre or roundhouses because of the crowds, but it was very interesting. There were frequent coaches to the stones and at no extra cost to the entrance price. You can also book private guides, but i am not sure how much they cost. In addition to this you can also download an audio guide from Your wristband, which I can only assume, tells you about the sight as you walk around. I also liked the fact they had sign language videos included in the exhibition centre so it was very inclusive. It was also nice to see and hear individuals from all around the world visiting our heritage site. The gift shop was very expensive, parking for the disabled was free with a blue badge. I am not sure how much general parking is but there was an app to pay on your phone. All the staff were very friendly, especially with helping individuals in wheelchairs on and off the coaches. You can join the English heritage on site and they were very helpful. I did not get the chance to visit the cafe sadly, so I cannot comment on the facilities or costs. I definetly recommend visiting Stonehenge though.

Great day out for the family and not to pricey either

Visiting Stonehenge on the self-guided tour was an unforgettable experience. Being able to explore at my own pace while listening to the audio guide made it easy to take in the history and significance of the site. Standing in front of such an ancient monument is something that photos just can't capture. The visitor centre was well organised, and the information throughout the tour was interesting without feeling overwhelming. The whole experience was peaceful, well run, and definitely worth the visit. I'd highly recommend the self-guided tour to anyone interested in history or simply wanting to see one of the world's most iconic landmarks.

Let me clarify something right from the beginning because I couldn’t find this explained clearly anywhere: the difference between visiting Stonehenge for free and buying an admission ticket. I’ve attached a photo that clearly shows the fence separating the free public footpath from the ticketed area. If you’re wondering what the difference actually is, this picture explains it much better than the official information does. If I had known this before my visit, I would have planned my trip very differently because I was travelling with my dog. Seeing Stonehenge itself is an incredible experience. Standing in front of a more than 5,000-year-old prehistoric monument is something truly special and absolutely worth doing. However, I found the Exhibition Centre rather disappointing. It’s actually quite small, and the only part I found genuinely interesting was the timeline showing where Stonehenge fits among the world’s other major historical monuments. That display was excellent because it really helped put Stonehenge into historical context. The rest of the exhibition didn’t really hold my attention. If you’re visiting with a dog, you can’t take the shuttle bus or enter the Exhibition Centre. Instead, you walk to Stonehenge, which takes about 30 minutes each way. You also can’t get quite as close to the stones as visitors entering through the ticketed area. However, as you can see from my photo, you’re still close enough to enjoy an excellent view and fully appreciate the monument. One thing that surprised me is that dogs are allowed in the reconstructed Neolithic village behind the Exhibition Centre—the thatched houses built to demonstrate how people lived at the time. That was a nice bonus. Knowing what I know now, I honestly wouldn’t have bought a ticket. I would simply have visited the reconstructed village with my dog, walked to Stonehenge along the public path, enjoyed the monument from there, and gone home. It’s about an hour of walking in total, and for anyone who regularly walks their dog, that’s completely reasonable. The main reason I’m writing this review is to make other visitors aware of this important difference, because I don’t think it’s explained clearly anywhere—not even at the ticket office, where I didn’t receive a clear explanation of what the ticket actually provides compared with the free public access. I hope my photo helps make the difference much clearer for anyone planning their visit, especially those travelling with a dog.

Very busy but informative. Well organized area. Parking is additional cost. They have an app for car park payment but can pay at entrance when licence place is provided. £4 extra.

A great way to see Stonehenge. We took an overnight flight and wouldn't have been able to check in to our hotel, so went to Stonehenge. We got to sleep in the car, see Stonehenge, and then sleep on the way to the hotel.
