The House of Wonders was constructed in 1883 by Barghash bin Said, the second Sultan of Zanzibar, as a ceremonial palace. Barghash made the door extra wide so he could enter the house on the back of an elephant, and the building’s large pillars and two-story clock tower were covered in white paint. From the get-go, the house was adorned with electricity and a working elevator, the first in all of East Africa to do so.
The Old Fort, also known as the Arab Fort and by other names, is a fortification located in Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar. It is the oldest building and a major visitor attraction of Stone Town.

Kadeem was very adaptable and had solid knowledge of all that we were seeing. I was a bit surprised that the visit to the spice farm Requires extra $ to take a cab rather than public transport. But Kaseem is very communicative /responsuve via WhatsApp so you can query him about whatever extra charges are required. Kaseem had great historical knowledge and was ready to answer all my questions bid and small. He had an impressive English language vocabulary.
I greatly appreciate for wonderful comment.
The spice tour was interesting and thorough, if a bit different to how we anticipated. It was very authentic and guides at spice farm were very friendly and welcoming. Our driver picked us up exactly as arranged, he was very pleasant and the car was immaculate. In the afternoon he took us to Stone Town to meet our guide, KASSIM. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the tour and felt we had a taste of both the history and life in Stone Town. Our trip included the historical locations and points of interest, including the markets. Our driver was waiting for us, he then returned us to our hotel.
I greatly appreciate for the comment and thank you for taking your time to review.
Kassim made our tour in Stone Town wonderful and memorable. He came up to us, perhaps due to the lost looks on our faces as we tried to tour the town on our own and failed dismally. DON'T TRY THIS PLS! Kassim was very informative, professional and funny at appropriate times. He knew a lot about the town and went out of his way to make sure we got the most out of our visit. Very glad that we chose him when he approached us. Thank you so much, Kassim.
I had wonderful time with l couldn't do better without choosing me.
We did the spice farm and stone town tour and well it was brilliant!! The spice farm is a must!!! Then the tour of stone town was brought alive with Kassim's knowledge he is fantastic and gave us the real history of the island! The people who say stone town is not worth a visit are ignorant to the history and didn't have such a knowledgeable guide who gave us a fantastic tour! Highly recommended!!!!
Thank you very much for the great comment.
We throughly enjoyed the historical tour around Stone Town with our guide. He was knowledgeable and well-spoken, and he seemed to enjoy our exhanges and conversations as much as we did. We learned a lot about today's Zanxibar/Unguja - and the troubled past. I admire the Zanzibareans' resilience. The spice tour was fine. We enjoyed the drive there and the boys showing us around were fun and silly, so we had good laughs. It would be better to show the tourists some REAL farms, rather than these touristy displays of specific spices, bushes and trees.
Thank you very much for the review
I did the spice farm, prison island and stone town tour. It was a great experience. Kassim was an excellent tour guide who was so knowledgeable about the history of Zanzibar and it was easy to share in that passion. The pace of the tour was good, interesting and I also managed to do some shopping in between. He was also a great photographer in capturing the highlights of the tour. I would definitely recommend Kassim for any tour in Zanzibar. My guide Shadow at the Spice farm was also very knowledgeable and I had a great lunch. The fruit in Zanzibar just tastes amazing. A 10/10 experience.
I greatly appreciate for the wonderful comment, it has been a while I didn't see the review like yours but all in all I had a whale of time with you and I enjoyed much when I took pics of you. Asante sana.
We did a half day Stonetown tour and felt like Kassim was the reason we loved it so much. He is knowledgeable and a source of great knowledge, while also being flexible and personable. We will definitely use him again and recommend him highly!
I greatly appreciate your time that you took to review me I'm definitely waiting for you to welcome back and use me in Zanzibar.
Kassim is an excellent tour guide! He is responsive when booking. He is friendly, observant, and very knowledgeable about Zanzibar's Stone Town history. Our walking tour was at a perfect pace. It allowed me to pause for a photo without falling behind. He was a ready and willing translator to assist us in speaking with a Masai, and for negotiating in the shops when the spoke no English. We saw everything we wanted, and learned the background that made the sites important - this is difficult to do in Zanzibar without a guide! We highly recommend Kassim as your guide! You won't be disappointed!
I greatly appreciate your time that you took to book the tour with me and finally show up your appreciation of my service. Thank you very much for commenting me on this.
Kassim is an awesome guide. We started at Jambo Spice Farm where another guy did the tour about spices. He explained how they're grown and there's so much fresh fruit to try. Especially stuff we don't have in the states. Afterwards we started our stone town tour. In the middle, since I was hungry he offered to let me have lunch and finish the tour after. I stopped at the Lukmaan Swahili Cuisine. Definitely worth stopping by if you have a chance. We then finished the tour of the church and slave history. He's so full of knowledge and a sweet guy. Please book and support.
Thank you very much for the review, I had a good time with you I appreciate for all.
Kassim is the guide you will not regret accompanying. He's so knowledgeable and eloquent about the sites and all relevant information you need. Our family felt in good hands.
