Description

This isn't your typical history tour. It's Stockholm through the eyes of a local friend. Amike means "friend," and that's exactly what this experience is about. Not a tour with a flag to follow or a script to recite. Just a relaxed walk with someone who lives here and loves sharing this city with visitors. You'll get history, of course, but also Swedish culture, daily life, fun facts, quirky traditions, and honest local tips. Why do Swedes take their shoes off indoors? What's fika really about? Where do locals actually eat in Gamla Stan? Your guide answers it all. We start at the Parliament, walk through Riddarholmen for waterfront views, then explore Gamla Stan's medieval alleys, colorful squares, and hidden courtyards. Along the way, expect conversation, not a lecture. Ask anything, go at your own pace, and leave feeling like you actually know Stockholm. Small groups only. Personal experience guaranteed. Come as a tourist, leave as a friend of Stockholm.

Christian a very good guide

I can really recommend the 2h Walking Tour in Old town with Christian as a guide. He was very well-read and told the story with a lot of humor. I went on the tour with five friends from Ireland and they learned a lot about the history of Sweden and us Swedes.

Very friendly guide with a lot of knowledge

We went in September and it was extremely cold, it was even snowing; however, the guide was very polite and kind.

Operator response

¡Gracias por la reseña! En septiembre el clima sorprende y más con esa nevada, así que se agradece que aun así disfrutaras el recorrido. Nos alegra que la atención y el trato estuvieran a la altura. ¡Un saludo!

History, culture & reality of Swedish life

Excellent introduction to Stockholm - took the tour with family of 5 (kids ages 11, 13 and 14) and everyone loved it. Learned an immense amount about Swedish history but also cultural traditions and principles of living. Tour led by an ex-pat which was a fascinating outsider’s perspective that both romanticized and presented a lived reality of what it’s like to be a part of Sweden. Great tour!

Operator response

Thank you for the thoughtful review! It's wonderful that all three kids enjoyed it as much as you did. That outsider's perspective is part of what makes the tour special, blending the history and traditions with what daily life in Sweden is really like. We're glad it gave your family such a rich introduction to Sweden and Stockholm.

Informative, funny, historical and current information and fun for family

This was a wonderful tour for our family of six with youngest 14 years old. The guide was funny, enthusiastic, informative and created a great tour. Bumpy roads in Gamla Stan but many stops we had a bench to rest if needed. We learned about the city, kings, modern ideology, even some gossip. Highly recommend

Operator response

Thank you for the lovely review! It's great that the tour worked so well for the whole family. Gamla Stan does have its bumpy cobblestones, so the benches along the way come in handy. We're glad the mix of history, the kings, and a few laughs made it a fun afternoon for everyone.

Despite a cold and rainy...

Despite a cold and rainy day, Cristhian gave an excellent tour. We learned not just about the history of Stockholm but also some cultural, linguistic and technological aspects of the city/country. After the tour, we needed fika and he guided us to a great place in the area.

Operator response

Thank you for the great review! Cold and rain couldn't get in the way, and it's great that the tour gave you more than the history alone; a bit of the language, the culture, and how the city works. And fika after a rainy walk is a must.
