We had a great day out with Beardy Joe. We spent a couple of hours at Stirling Castle, then went on a distillery tour and tasting at Glengoyne, which was the highlight for us. After that we went to lunch at a little village at Loch Lomand, and a walk at the lake. Beardy Joe drove, and entertained us with some great stories and music. It was a really fun day!
A great way to sight see, stress free! Jim is so knowledgeable and kind. We were able to experience so much in one day!
Now that we only had one day to experience the area around Glasgow, this was the right trip. History, nature, Scottish tradition and whiskey. James was the perfect guide for us
My husband and I spent a great day outside of the city. Our host Cal was very personable and knowledgeable on all the stops. We particularly enjoyed the hike at the Loch as well as the easy conversation on the drive and awesome music playlist!
This was a really enjoyable day trip from Glasgow. James was a super guide. Just the right length. Would highly recommend.
Great experience! James is a very knowledgeable and kind tour guide. We had a great tour. Thank-you!
Outstanding tour. Our guide James was phenomenal. Lots of fun and well organized. We really liked that this was a smaller group tour. We’d highly recommend this tour!
Our tour guide James was very informative and friendly. He gave us lots of extra information on the history of the areas we were traveling through. Stirling Castle is not to be missed as it’s one of the best castles in Scotland and Loch Lommand is stunning. We highly recommend this tour and can’t say enough good things about James.
We had such a wonderful day with our driver/tour guide, Jim. It turned out there were no other travelers that day, so it was like having a personal driver. Jim was so personable and engaging and was a great storyteller as we approached each sight. I think what I also appreciated was the right balance of no. of sights and amount of time spent at each. It felt just right. For those wondering about the Loch Lomond Walk, I wouldn't describe it as overly technical, but as it is often wet/rainy in Scotland, the path can be a tad slick and there is some elevation gain and drop. Depending on time of year, I might suggest shoes that are waterproof and some grip as opposed to just walking/everyday shoes. Admittedly not major whisky drinkers, but really appreciated the tour of the Glengoyne Distillery and the tasting. The staff were great and engaging and not at all pushy. If you are wondering about food/lunch options, the Stirling Castle does have a mini cafe, but is rather limited in terms, esp if you have dietary restrictions. We brought a small lunch bag and had our food during the drive to Loch Lomond and that worked out fine.
Jim was a fantastic host, answering every question along the way in the extremely clean, comfy, spacious, up to date van. The activity tickets aren't included in the price -- which is stated in the description, but it's good to remember. The van has phone charger ports but they're USB-C, not USB, so bring an adapter or appropriate cord if needed. Felt like we had enough time everywhere but didn't waste time lingering, and every destination was well worth it. Almost worth it for the transport alone after seeing some of the roads and traffic!
