Great experience, beautiful parts of Lithuania rarely seen of rivers and forests. Enjoyed exploring 100 year old village in the countryside. Unique look into the past with a visit to Grutas. Our was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Highly recommend.
Seeing the old Village, and Grutas Park were the best parts. We also stopped by the site of a WW2 reprisal against villagers and several scenic overlooks.
We saw a lot of forests, rivers, spring, hills and lovely church and monastery on this tour. Very beautiful and scenic sights in the south of Lithuania plus had lunch (pay as you order) in a lovely Italian restaurant with the best pizza. On top of these all, this is our 2nd/back to back tour with our favorite tour guide, Adam, who was not only nice and informative as usual, but was also actively leading us in the hikes and walks across the forests and town. Definitely it was relaxing and calming tour more on nature.
Thanks to our guide Andrius, we learned a lot about what living in the rural Lithuania was like over the past century or more. We learned the some of the small towns continue to be lived in as they have been over the centuries. We especially liked visiting Zervinos and learning about Lithuanian traditions that live on. We also had the opportunity to visit Grutas Park, which presented a disturbing look at life under Soviet rule after the end of WWII.
Basically, a nice, leisurely trip .. good for a chance to see more of the Lithuanian countryside. Trip went to forest area that excelled in wild mushrooms and berries. Tour included trip to outdoor museum of Soviet-era sculptures .. interesting to a point, but no need to see the entire park. Had lunhch in the "Soviet diner" that was only minimally tasty.
