Great Operators

We booked this experience early in the week, only to receive a message from the operator a couple days later that due to weather and tide conditions, snorkeling would not be an option. We looked into rebooking for a later day but that didn't work out. So we didn't actually go on this tour. I wanted to give a good review because the tour operator was very honest and open about the weather conditions. Rather than take us out for a subpar experience, they offered first to reschedule and then when that wasn't an option, offered a full refund. I appreciated the honesty and integrity. If we find ourselves in Antigua again, this is a tour that we will definitely look into.

SoCoHo went the extra mile

The SoCoHo team bent over backwards to make our tour happen. After experiencing exceptionally low tides for several straight days, they rescheduled, changed the time, and pulled the boat out early to ensure that we could make it to Cades Reef! The team was fun and provided a local snack. Parking was safe and secure, with comfortable shaded seating and good bathroom facilities. This is a must book tour if staying in southwest Antigua.

Great family experience

This was the perfect excursion for our family. Our guides Sativa and Jenson were so friendly and welcoming. The kayak trip through the mangroves was peaceful and truly unique. Antigua is the only Caribbean island where you can do this! It was a little otherworldly and so lovely. We learned about the unique plants and animals. Keep your eyes and ears open for the Mangrove Cuckoo! The transfer to the snorkel boat was quick and easy. The ride was smooth even for such a windy day. The current was strong but we felt safe and comfortable. We saw a stingray, barracuda, all kinds of fish, and on the way back - turtles! The rum punch was refreshing and the atmosphere was so relaxed and fun. We really loved this activity and highly recommend it. We did pay for the added lunch and it was delicious. We felt the length of time was perfect, the organization was top notch, and the guides were the best.

Kayak and Snorkel Tour our guides - Alex & Sativa

Kayak and Snorkel Tour our guides - Alex & Sativa The tour started with a safety briefing and then a gentle stroll down to the mangroves with a quick lesson on the different varieties on the way. After a gentle launch from the jetty we were paddling through the cool mangroves experiencing the sights and smells of tree crabs, mud crabs and upside-down jelly fish. On arriving at the beach we transferred to a motor launch for the trip out to Cades Reef. Half an hour of snorkeling ensued and we saw plenty of Reef dwelling fish and a pack of Barracuda. After the snorkeling we were treated to a light lunch and Rum Punch whilst still anchored by the reef. Alex (boat captain) and Sativa (Kayak and snorkeling guide) were both very friendly and informative. We'd definitely recommend this tour.

Great time with friends, lots of laughs

The tour guides / instructors were both fun and helpful! They helped us feel confident and we laughed a lot while kayaking as well as on the boat before snorkeling. The snorkelling itself was on quite a choppy bit of sea, but we still got to see lots of fish (no sharks or turtles for us 😔). They provide masks, fins and snorkels, though the snorkels are the basic kind so they don’t stop water from entering it. We didn’t realise they provide quite a tasty snack after the session so we didn’t even need to get lunch! A great surprise! Just please remember to send a separate message providing any dietary requirements as otherwise they will assume you can eat anything.

Well-organized tour. The...

Well-organized tour. The mangroves are scenic, the guides are friendly, it’s a short ride out to the reef to snorkel, and the snacks and optional lunch were delicious. The kayaking and snorkeling are not strenuous, and this is a great all-ages activity.
