Small Group Redwoods, California Coast & Sausalito Day Trip from San Francisco

Description
We begin the day at Armstrong Woods, where you will walk among the oldest and largest trees on the planet. The park has 1500 year old, 300-foot Redwoods beauties that offer an awe-inspiring stroll through one of the most unique forests in Northern California. We purposefully choose NOT to go to the more known Muir Woods, which is overrun with crowds and prevents our guests from fully enjoying the majesty of the Redwoods. Instead, we go to Armstrong, which has older and taller trees, and far less crowds for a more private experience. We will travel to a small timber town where we will purchase lunch and, weather permitting, go picnic at the beach as we travel down the spectacular California coastline. The day ends in Sausalito — a lovely town on the San Francisco Bay with magical views of the city. Then, you can decide if you want to return with us or take a 30-minute ferry ride back to San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf.

We had a great time on this tour!
Our tour guide Trevor was absolutely amazing! Connected with all the people in the group and was very knowledgeable about everything I asked.
Trevor was GREAT!!!! Knew so much about the area and fun little stops along the way!! AWESOME views and perfect day!!! Redwood park was breath taking and easy trails for all. Goat Rock Beach, GORGEOUS for our lunch and photo ops, Bodega Bat quick stop for chowder and taffy, Sausalito stop BEAUTIFUL town for shopping and a quick ice cream plus best pics at the Golden Gate Bridge without the fog.
This was honestly one of the best tours we did all holiday. Our tour guide was Trevor and he picked us up from our hotel (RUI) in Fisherman’s Wharf. It was a small group tour with only 7 of us. The Redwood experience was really incredible and a definite highlight. Then we went on to Duncan’s Mills which was such a cute little mining village and a lovely place to buy lunch. We then took our picnic lunch to Goat Rock Beach which was a really stunning location and a real highlight. Sausalito was a very pretty town with lots of restaurants and shops we had the option to stay there longer which was very tempting and get the ferry back, or go back with the tour to be dropped back at our hotel. We chose to go back with Trevor as he also took us to a great view point of the bridge, looking back to the city and Alcatraz. Trevor was super helpful, flexible, knowledgeable and fun to be with. We had the best day. Such a great tour to do. We saw and learnt so much.
We had the most amazing day with our tour guide, Trevor, at Best Bay Area Tours on our small group trip to Armstrong Woods and coastal tour. There were just 7 in the tour, the bus was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of water offered throughout the trip. We were picked up from our hotel in Fisherman’s Wharf for a full day tour. We arrived at Armstrong Woods very early, and it felt like we had the woods all to ourselves. Trevor was very knowledgeable and the woods were breathtaking. Then we went on to visit Duncan’s Mills which was a really cute place to grab some lunch before setting off for a picnic at Goat Rock beach which was just stunning. We took a wall along the beach which was really beautiful and completely deserted. We continued on to Sausalito via a short stop off to see the sea lions. Sausalito is such a pretty coastal town with lots of shops and restaurants. We were given the option of staying longer and making our own way back to Fisherman’s Wharf via the ferry which was tempting but Trevor promised us a very special view of the San Francisco Bridge on the way back and again, he didn’t disappoint! Trevor was such an amazing guide, so friendly with great energy. He was very flexible with the itinerary and super helpful. Oh and he also had a great play list of songs on route that our son George, was a particular fan of! This trip was one of the highlights of our holiday, we got to see so much more than the San Francisco central areas and we would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you only get to spend a few days in the San Francisco area. It’s a full day tour and great value for money. Huge thanks to Trevor for such a great day!
This was a great tour. I loved seeing the redwoods and going to Goat Rock Beach. Kurt was an awesome tour guide. He was knowledgeable of the area and took us to the best spots.
This was a FANTASTIC small group tour. We could not have asked for a better guide. Kurt was very knowledgeable and had answers for all our questions. This was the highlight of our San Francisco trip! Definitely a "must-do"!!
Our bus tour was wonderful, allowing us to experience a variety of activities within one day. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the photo opportunities were perfect. Our walk through the redwood forest was beautiful and we were able to experience a variety of shopping in small country towns along with larger towns closer to the city. It was nice to explore at our own pace in these locations. Lunch on Goat Rock Beach was a highlight for those of us who grew up with ‘The Goonies’. Derek was punctual, polite and helpful and provided us with interesting details along the tour route. It was a wonderful day.
The tour began badly as the tour guide was a 1/2 hour late picking people up. There was no stop as shown in the itinerary (and I’ve done before on this tour) for a snack before Armstrong Woods. It would have been good as the lunch stop was not until 2pm. We had only 20 minutes at Goat Rock, not the hour as described in the itinerary and as I was assured when I booked. (This was the reason I booked this tour for the fourth time.) The restaurant where we were dropped off, The Tides, was much pricier than picking up a picnic lunch for Goat Rock. This was an unexpected added expense. The music the tour guide played for himself was intrusive and not palatable to those subjected to it. This was definitely the worst tour I’ve taken.
Because you have toured with us so many times, you already know the quality tours that we provide. When you brought it to our attention that the day of this particular tour had problems, we hoped that the 50% discount we gave you would have have made up for your disappointment. We are sorry we did not provide the quality experience you have come to know with us in the past, but we know we will make it up to you when you tour with us again.
Great experience! Incredible views and picture opportunities all around. Even though it was cloudy at first it was still an incredible experience and our tour guide Kurt was awesome.
