What a fantastic experience! Claudia and her husband were fantastic hosts. Even though they spoke limited English, we had little difficulty communicating using Google Translate. We visited an authentic local produce market where we chose the freshest ingredients. We then went to her farm, where we ate olives picked from her trees and brined at home. All of the dishes were prepared with her home-pressed olive oil. Claudia showed incredible patience as we struggled to match her perfectly formed orecchiette. We were overwhelmed by the luncheon spread - cured meats, cheeses, meatballs, grilled vegetables, and bruschetta followed by our homemade pasta and tiramisu. We were so stuffed that we actually cancelled our dinner reservation. Do not pass this opportunity to spend a day as a true Italian!
This tour was amazing! The best thing we did during our trip to Italy! We were on a cruise and Claudia and her husband met us promptly right where the ship shuttle dropped us off. She spoke some English and she and her husband were warm and welcoming! We went to an authentic local produce market. This was not a “tourist” spot, but where locals actually shop. It was vibrant and although everyone spoke Italian, produce sellers were so friendly! After Claudia bought fresh vegetables and seafood, we went to their lovely home and farm. Claudia and Giuseppe welcomed us into their beautiful home. We made eggplant, homemade pasta, bruschetta. Then we all set down to a feast! They had at least 15 different dishes, meats, cheese, homemade olives, homemade meatballs, on and on! We were stuffed! Then came the pasta! Amazing! We topped it off with lovely dessert, wine and great conversation with the help of google translator! And a tour of their farm, dogs, beautiful crops and fruit trees! The day was so memorable. This is an absolute “must do” if you are anywhere in the area! Could not recommend more! Thank you to our beautiful hosts!
Once a month we go to Lunch, it has already become customary!! This place is mut Familiar, the Pastas and Meats are Excellent!! I congratulate the Attention of Guille q attends us with such Sympathy and Kindness q do not make you want to leave!!
It was fabulous from beginning to end. Mimma and churro were welcoming hosts. They took us to a small shop where we learned how they make mozzarella and then to an open market to buy the ingredients to cook. And they welcomed us into their home where we prepared lunch, laughed and drank. It was incredible experience. Highly recommend!!
Maybe t what I expected. Loved the market but would have had more fun if I wasn’t the only one there. I wish the market had more than just produce. I expected fresh fish, meats and cheeses, more authentic Italian ingredients.
Dear Cindy, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the market, and we’re sorry that the experience did not fully match your expectations. The small group market tour format means that the experience is open to multiple participants, but group size can vary depending on bookings for that specific date. Occasionally, guests may find themselves joining alone, which some appreciate for the more personal attention, though we understand this may not be everyone’s preference. Regarding the market itself, it reflects the authentic daily shopping habits of local residents and therefore focuses primarily on fresh produce and seasonal goods. While fish, meats, and cheeses are typical of larger or specialized markets, this market is representative of the local neighborhood experience. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us clarify expectations and continue improving our experiences. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.
Mimma and Ciro are the best hosts anyone can wish for. Mimma tought me how to cook like an Italian chef and made me feel at home in her kitchen. It was an experience like no other. Thx so much!
