This experience goes beyond a typical coastal tour by combining landscapes, wine culture, and local cuisine in a small, relaxed group. Instead of simply visiting towns, we explore the Basque Coast through the traditions that shape everyday life here. You’ll walk along the spectacular Flysch cliffs of Zumaia, one of Europe’s most unique geological landscapes, then head into the coastal vineyards above Getaria to learn how Txakoli wine is grown in this maritime climate. A short walk among the vines offers sweeping views of the Atlantic and insight into local wine traditions. The day continues with a guided visit of the fishing village of Getaria before finishing with one of the Basque coast’s most iconic meals: fresh fish grilled over charcoal, paired with a tasting of different styles of local Txakoli wine. With a maximum of 7 guests, the experience remains personal, relaxed, and deeply connected to the region.

Stop in Zumaia to admire the famous Flysch cliffs, one of the most unique geological landscapes in Europe. Walk to scenic viewpoints with your guide, learn how these dramatic rock layers were formed, and explore the charming old town overlooking the estuary.
Continue into the hills above Getaria where coastal vineyards produce the region’s famous Txakoli wine. Walk among the vines, enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic, and learn how the Hondarrabi Zuri grape is grown in this unique maritime climate shaped by sea winds and humidity.
Arrive in the charming fishing village of Getaria, one of the most authentic towns on the Basque coast. Walk through its narrow streets with your guide, discover its strong maritime traditions, and learn about its history as the birthplace of explorer Juan Sebastián Elcano. Overlooking the harbor and surrounded by vineyards and the sea, Getaria offers a perfect glimpse into traditional Basque coastal life before continuing to lunch.
Finish the experience with one of the Basque coast’s most beloved culinary traditions: fresh fish grilled over charcoal. At a traditional seaside restaurant, enjoy a relaxed lunch featuring the catch of the day accompanied by a tasting of different styles of local Txakoli wine, grown on the surrounding coastal vineyards.

Marten was a wonderful guide, we felt like we learned a lot about the region and its history, and the Getaria lunch was excellent. Would recommend.
A great day of Flysch, Fiz and Fish. We were picked up not far from our oldtown accommodation. The van was modern clean and tidy. Alotz provide a detailled discussion on Basque history and culture. After a scenic drive along the Basque coast to Zumaia, we stopped at the Flysch geopark. The warmer weather and lower tide made the visit spectacular and very informative. As we had worked up a thirst it time for some Txakoli tasting! A quick drive to the top of the hills for a comparison tasting at Amertoi. This was followed by a walk through Getaria and an alfesco lunch of BBQ locally caught fish. A great slice of Basque culture guided by the vibrant energy that Alotz brings. Thank you.

This tour was one of the best tours my husband and I have done. Inigo was our tour guide and he was the reason it was so special. The towns themselves were beautiful but he made them come alive with his knowledge and passion about the places we visited.
