Skocjan caves, Piran & Predjama castle | Private trip from Ljubljana

Description
Discover the Slovenian coast and the Karst region. The first stop is the UNESCO listed Skocjan Caves, one of the largest and most fascinating Karstic sites in Europe with the Reka River running 200m below the surface. Next stop in one of the local taverns with the famous Karst air-dried prosciutto tasting, accompanied with the local wine Teran – produced only in the Karst region. Short stop at Lipica, the homeland of the white Lipizzaner. Pass the coastal towns of Koper, Izola and Portoroz to reach everyone’s favourite spot on the Slovenian coast – Piran, where you can get lost in its medieval narrow streets and houses and enjoy some free time. One last stop at Predjama Castle on the way to Ljubljana. Discover the secrets of the largest cave castle (Guinnes World Records!), located on a 123-meter high cliff, and learn about the local Robin Hood, the legendary knight Erazem. Return to Ljubljana in early evening hours.

This was our second tour with Roundabout and it did not disappoint. The Škocjan caves are an absolute bucket list destination - very Mines of Moria! We also loved seeing the Lipica horses. I got so excited that I managed to jump out of the van and lose my wedding rings. Luckily we had the most AMAZING tour guide, Polona, who was happy to back track and we found them. Polona deserves her own review frankly - she was so kind and easy to speak with as well as being very informative. She speaks 7 languages!?! And you can tell she is proud of Slovenia and really loves showing people her country. If you get a chance - ask for Polona!
I had difficulty finding the pickup spot. To my surprise the other 6 people on the tour were from Australia, Canada, Scotland, Libya, and Mexico. Only the latter 2 spoke to me during the 10 hours trip and the Canadian attempted to insult America. None of that was Travel Roundabout's fault. The driver/guide was great - lots of information! We were rushed at the STRENUOUS Skocjan caves. I seriously was grateful I didn't die in the cave. When I made it out, I bought water, a coke, and used the bathroom. Not 1 second to go into the gift shop - the group was waiting for me. Lunch was ok. I didn't care for the wine and wasn't expecting a plateful of salty prosciutto. But at least we had time to eat. Lipica stud farm was pleasant. We got out of the van to take a few photos, but no time to actually see the barn or anything else. Piran - 2 1/2 hours which was enough time to walk up to a church for a town photo and eat a meal on the waterfront. No clue where the others went... Predjama Castle was my WOW moment! Unbelievable - worth the trip itself!
Our guides were so knowledgeable and made the journey so interesting by sharing stories and facts about the region! Skocjan caves was amazing and Piran was stunning! The castle is a must see. Would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see many parts of Slovenia in one day. Our guides were so welcoming and we felt truly cared for!!
The best guide! Ana a wonderful, cheerful and friendly guide. Full day tour of knowledge and experiences. Ana is the guide everyone should look for on their trip to Ljubljana! Thank you Ana for such a memorable walk!
The tour was very good. The caves were amazing. Traffic was really bad because of the holiday, as a result we were not in Piran as long as expected. The prosciutto and wine tasting was very good and it was great to see the Lipanzer horses. Our guide, Peter, was very good.
I could not have chosen a better tour. The guide, the locations, everything was excellent. Klemen was an excellent guide/driver.
Amazing tour to see so much of Slovenia in one day. Škocjan caves were a must-do for me. Borut was highly knowledgeable and shared so much about the history and culture on the drives. Piran was gorgeous and the best seafood I’ve had in awhile. Great tour 10/10
A fantastic tour with roundabout travel, Peter our guide turned up promptly at the agreed location with a very comfortable, safe mini van. he went above and beyond to make this a great tour sharing lots of local knowledge about Slovenia and it's history and great jokes! He managed to include some great extras (wine and food tasting, Lipica Stud Farm, and a viewpoint over Slovenia and Italy). I also went on a tour with roundabout tours the day before to Lake Bled and this was another very well organised fun tour. Highly recommend
Interesting trip with amazing tour guid. Slovenia is the beautiful country with many things to see and to discover
Our guide Primasz (“Optimus Prime”) made it a great day out, as he was interesting and helpful. Caves were great but you have to ignore the stupid ‘no photography’ rule which makes no sense whatsoever- I have to assume some a-hole has decided it belongs to them and them only. Seaside town was pretty, white horses meh, picturesque castle an impressive viewing. Recommended fun day out.
