It was fun to have laughter in the performance. It was a wonder how they did it when they changed a number of masks.
Honestly, I was a bit bored. The show seemed all over the place. Part of it was a love story and part of it was something to do with circus capabilities. I enjoyed watching the unique tricks that some of the cast could perform. For some reason, I thought the "fire-spitting" would actually be more than a guy blowing on some kind of blow torch. It just didn't seem very captivating, but I'm not sure if operas typically are. And I never got the chance to see any signature Chengdu "face-changing".
Definetly a recommendation! A cool and interesting experience. They also have english subtiles on big screens which makes it easier to understand if you dont speak Chinese
Great show. Easy ticket purchase for a foreigner!!! Excellent. I will go again and use TripAdvisor for sure
The instructions about where and when to get the tickets and where the actual opera is are vague. Mobile tickets aren't available and tickets must be picked up the day of the event and the opera is right across the street in a Teahouse. The actual opera was fantastic and well worth the money. You get free tea and sunflower seeds and there is wine, food ,and snacks available to buy. Highly recommended event!
