Fantastic Well Displayed Museum of Cairns history First People Transport Industry Rebuilt in 2017 well designed well laid out Helpful staff
This is a great museum. Really gives you a feel of the area. An overlooked jewel. Don’t miss it. The admission price is reasonable
Thank you we think so too.
We visited Cairns and found the museum an excellent resource to know and understand ts origins and how it has developed. Great insight into the different industries that were integral to the city's development. Came away with an appreciation of the place and its people.
Thank you for your review, Cairns Museum is the perfect introduction to our tropical City
The exhibition is quite rich. There are a lot of details about prominent people of Cairns since the beginning. The aboriginal part is also valuable to see and think about.
We had a lovely time at the museum. Not only was it very interesting, but we got to escape the heat, and one of the local tour guides Tony gave us lots of extra information about the displays. He was a very knowledgeable man and we appreciated his effort to educate us on the history of Cairns 🤩
Upon arrival I was welcomed in a friendly manner, and was given all the information I needed. I was suggested to start on floor 2 and so I did. On this floor after time has passed by I was greeted by another member of staff (philipa?) she was lovely and shown me the interactive table which I was unsure how to use at first. Toilets were clean as well as the whole building, and the museum itself was very educational for someone from the UK not knowing a great deal about carins. Thank you Museum team!!
An absolutely amazing museum with so much insight into the history of Cairns. We would happily have spent more time there and it would be a great place to take kids too. Lovely views from the balcony too. Definitely worth a visit.
It was a very great activity that I did with my classmates. I enjoyed the creative distribution of the place and designed spaces. We had a pleasant tourguide. And also, the museum is open for people who want to volunteer, a great opportunity to involve more in Cairns culture.
We were given a private tour around the museum, going through each exhibit. I’ve been a local in Cairns for over 10 years and still didn’t half as much as what our tour guide told us. The exhibit around the 1890’s is interesting in regards to the indigenous relations and stories that came out of it.
Make sure you visit the History Museum when you're in Cairns, where the ultra-friendly staff explain how Cairns came to be, and with lots of artwork and photos of ancient civilizations, it's a great place to get to know Cairns in full! My favorite is the little wooden boat from the stairs on the first and second floors!
