Itinerary
In the beginning, we wander around the downtown area. We visit the Eger Castle where we can have a time-traveling experience back to the middle ages, during the time of Hungary's Ottoman occupation. We visit a minaret too and get acquainted with the Turkish-Hungarian relationship in general.
Afterward, we see the Eger Basilica, Hungary's third biggest church.
Halfway of the program, we need to fill up our belly to prepare ourselves for the wine tasting. The two can happen at the same time; our first stop is Bolyki cellar where we can taste Eger's new superstar (literally) the Eger Star wine with a nice lunch.
In the second part, we wander around Szépasszonyvölgy or Fair Lady Valley in English where we can find most of Eger's cellars after each other, and we visit one more cellar to taste the famous Bull's Blood and more.

Our Guide Gary and Driver Andrew were simply the best. They took us to everything we wanted to see prior to wine tasting. This trip was not about how many wineries we could visit, but about going to the best winery and having a private lunch there and enjoying all of their great wines.
Dear Gary, Thank you so much for giving Guide Gary and Andrew this great review and feedback! I'm so happy it turned out to be a wonderful experience, according to Guide Gary for all of you :)
We had a fantastic day exploring Eger with Petra. The winery we visited was beautiful and Chubby gave a wonderful and fun tour. We enjoyed the lunch so much and we think those cheese balls for dessert have been our favorite on our whole trip. Of course we loved the wine! Petra was a great tour guide but moreover, she became like part of our group and it was fun to be with her.
Dearest Margie, Thank you so so much for this nice review, I’m happy you felt this way! I also treasure this group and the memories of our day from Eger, I hope we could explore other parts of Hungary as well some day together!
What a fantastic day with Petra. She is an extremely knowledgeable and personable guide. From start to finish we felt like being accompanied by a friend rather than a guide. Our day started with a visit to Eger Castle then on to the church and main square. We were treated to a private wine tasting and lunch at Bolyki winery just outside Eger with instruction provided by the owner himself. This place was a real gem. We concluded with a visit to the Valley of the Beautiful Women. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a personal and unique experience.
Hi Judy, Thank you for taking the time and write your review! I hope you are doing great, I felt too that I was with my friends! I hope you could be my tour guide soon in Canada 🙂
