Hi Joanne, thank you for posting a review about our Shore Excursion Punta Loma Sea Lions Reserve Including Puerto Madryn City Tour. Your opinion is important to us and will certainly help other travelers. In order to see pinguins, you need to visit Punta Tombo or as a second option, Peninsula Valdes which are much farther than Punta Loma, which main attraction is to see the sea lions in their natural enviroment. Best regards, Carlos.

We were a small group of 6 and received very special attention. Our guide, Sylvia was terrific. We did get to view sea lions from the cliffs but it was high tides so the lions were bunched up together.

We booked weeks ahead of time for the morning tour of this excursion while our cruise ship was in port in Puerto Madryn. These same tour operators were right outside the cruise ship with a pad of 3” X 6” papers, trying to book as many last minute people from the cruise ship onto the same excursion that we’d booked. OK, fine. But by the time we had walked to the meeting point, the tour operators there told us, “Sorry, your tour has been postponed until later because of the tides”. The later time they rescheduled us for created a situation where we would have to skip lunch that day, which wasn’t ideal. Meanwhile, we watched as all the cruise passengers who’d just (minutes before) bought the same excursion, jump onto the bus that we were supposed to be on, holding their little 3”X6” vouchers. Turns out that they were filling up the tour bus with the last-minute purchasers, and then re-scheduling all the people who had already booked ahead on Viator (and who now couldn’t cancel without losing their money because we were inside the 24 hour no-cancellation window) for later at an unfavorable time. We insisted on going at the originally scheduled time and, after pushing back a LOT, they eventually allowed us to go on the bus we’d originally scheduled for. And it turned out that when we got there that it was low tide, which was actually the MOST favorable conditions for seeing the sea lions! They had straight up lied to us about why we supposedly “needed” to be rescheduled - just so they could make more money by putting last minute passengers into our spaces!!! The second problem was that, although the tour was promoted as being in English (or at least in English and Spanish), none of the guides spoke much English. There was a middle-aged very nice lady who spoke only Spanish, who told the Spanish-speaking folks all about the history of the areas we were passing through, with a lot of interesting anecdotes, based on her audience’s reactions. There were also 3 young women (late teens to early 20’s) who were supposed to be telling the other half of the tour group the same information in English. Unfortunately, only one of the three spoke any English; the other two presented themselves as English speakers but spoke basically no English. And even the one who did speak a bit of English would give only a one or two sentence summary of what the Spanish speaking lady had spent 15 minutes describing and explaining….all of the English speaking audience were left feeling like we were basically missing out on all the information, except for obvious things like “Now we are driving towards the sea lions”. A total waste of our time and money!
Hi, we regret to hear your experience was not good. We inform travelers that this tour depends on the tide. It is also stated in our product. Regarding the last minutes bookings, there are many operators waiting at the main entrance, and it is not only this tour but also, to other destinations such as Punta Tombo. Maybe be you saw other people taking this tour that requires an earlier start. We can just tell that we only take bookings that are previously confirmed. All our guides speak english well. Are you sure you took the tour with our agency?. Please inform your booking reference so we can check it. Best regards, Carlos
