Itinerary
Pickup at the cruise terminal. We will meet right across the terminal, a very easy meeting point, avoiding the crowds looking for taxis and vans. Just exit the ship, cross the avenue, and we meet at the little red kiosk, by the traffic lights (we will send all details via email). We will then have an approximate 45 minutes drive to Pena Palace.
Guided visit to the Pena Palace exterior, exploring garden and grounds. The Pena Palace is one of the best representations of 19th century Romanticism in Europe. Being the second-highest point in the Serra de Sintra (over 500m above sea level), it will amaze you with its unique architecture and spectacular views. King Ferdinand II - the king-artist - fell in love with Sintra, and following the purchase of the property, decided to build a unique castle and park, with 500 plant species from all corners of the world. The palace incorporates Manueline and Moorish architectural influences, that together will give you an atmosphere of “a thousand and one nights.”. An unforgettable experience. (Pena Park ticket included / no palace interior visit)
In the center of Sintra, you can enjoy the wonders of this beautiful medieval little town, walking the narrow streets, feel the local atmosphere and have lunch - do not miss a nice coffee and local pastry "Travesseiro".
Regaleira is a 19th century Villa, known as Palácio da Regaleira. Located in the center of Sintra, it was bought by a Portuguese businessman who was fascinated by secret orders such as Freemasonry and the Templars. Regaleira was transformed into a palace surrounded by gardens, lakes, caves and enigmatic constructions, symbolic places, typical of secret societies and rituals. A unique monument influenced by Romantic, Neo-Gothic and Manueline architecture. When in Sintra you can have a quick walk (15 min) to see Quinta da Regaleira from outside, and take a photo (interior visit not included)
Cascais will amaze you, with its mix of a little fishing village, together with the sophistication of a place where kings and queens would spend part of their summer. Time for coffee or ice-cram, if you like. Short stop before driving back to your ship.
Estoril is a village where different people, from different social backgrounds, met during the 30s and 40s of last century. Exiled kings, 2nd world war spies, meeting at the biggest casino in Europe, everything happened. Even James Bond might have been "planned" here. A quick pass-by and we will tell you all about it, on the way back to Lisbon.
We will drive back to Lisbon, to drop you off timely at your terminal - back to the cruise ship

We had a wonderful day with Mauro! He was an excellent guide & driver who took great pride in showing us the sights in Sintra & Cascais. He provided lots of good information but wasn't too overwhelming. Pena Palace was very interesting, and it was nice to wander around Sintra for a bit. We loved Cascais, which is a pretty seaside town with nice, upscale shops and cafes. Overall, it was a great day!
Our guide, Mauro, was exceptional! He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He picked up our party exactly as promised (time/locale, etc.). Mauro is so familiar with the region that he was able to identify lesser-traveled routes so that high traffic volume around the area was never problematic. He suggested a wonderful Portuguese restaurant for lunch and arranged a behind-the-scenes pastry shop visit. The fact that he is a true history buff added to the experience. We would highly recommend Viator and Mauro!!
Fantastic excursion to Sintra, Pena Palace, and Cascais. The locations were beautiful, but the real standout was our guide. His communication skills, knowledge, and friendly manner made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. He kept the group engaged, informed, and relaxed throughout the day. Would absolutely do this tour again—especially with him leading it. Matt
Excellent tour. Very knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend.
My husband and I have been in many tours and excursions around the world and we both agreed that this is the best one to date. Nuno was an excellent guide. Informative, intelligent, and eager to give us the best tour he could. He was there to pick us up from our cruise ship. He found us, we didn’t have the usual concern of finding our guide. He was friendly courteous and helpful. He answered our questions, gave excellent recommendations for food and showed us more than we expected to see. I will be recommending Nuno and this tour company without reservation to all of my travelling friends. Thank you Nuno! If you ever make it to Australia , Mark and I owe you the best tour imaginable.
Dear Raelene, thank you so much for your five-star review - it was our pleasure. You made the difference, always kind, active and interested. Will reach out if i ever go to Australia, for sure. All the best
Highly recommend to our tour guide David, always shows up on time and be very nice all day. Kindly answer all the questions and introduce the city with knowledge. We take a 30-40 minutes ride to Sintra first and then visit this beautiful town, and then heading to a village with great view, David took us to visit Cabo de Roca and then back to Casias for lunch. We get back on the cruise port on time and the whole journey was amazing.
Dear Jie, thank you for your feedback, it was a pleasure to have you with us - glad to see you have enjoyed our Shore excursion from your Ship to Sintra, the National Palace, Roca cape, Cascais and a timely return to the Cruise terminal. All the best
It was a great day trip with Filipe from Moovearound. We were just 6 people, my friend and I with a family of four so it was laid back and comfortable in a new van. Filipe explained everything we saw and was ready to answer any questions, and made sure we were comfortable and happy. I highly recommend this day trip for an overall feel of Lisbon, Sintra and Cascais.
Dear Sharifa, thank you so much. You were a great group and that is why we love our job. It was a pleasure to guide you though Sintra, Pena, Cascais, and then brining you back on time. All the best
Our guide Daniel was amazing! He was very prompt in his communication and in meeting us at the designated spot right outside the cruise terminal. Daniel was very knowledgeable and interesting in the way he shared the history and insights about Lisbon and Portugal. He was flexible with the itinerary, but made sure to hit all the highlights we expected. Daniel was also generous with free time to allow us to explore at our own pace. We never worried about getting back to the ship on time, he was very considerate of our all aboard departure time. Highly recommend Daniel!
Wow wow. Pena palace is just breathtaking and the views of the ocean… amazing. This tour was great to have a good understanding of Portugal and being Portuguese. Highly recommended.
The locations were amazing, pena palace was beautiful and it was great to see the other locations as well, really enjoyed Cabo da Roca. It was a small group of 6 so it was great to be able to talk with them. Our guide David was fantastic, very knowledgeable and made the trip very fun for everyone. Really enjoyed listening to his information and his stories and he gave us good insight. 10/10 recommend!
Dear Joanne, it was great meeting you and a pleasure to have you on this short day tour to Sintra and Cascais. All went well and back to the ship timely! Please come back soon, all the best
