First let me say our guide was outstanding. He did his absolute best and what we could hear was interesting. He went out of his way to make our kid feel special and even let her try punting. The issue has nothing to do with his ability. I blame this 100% on the tour operator who let 2 young guys onboard with a pizza and beers. They, along with some obnoxious young women spent nearly the entire ride talking over our poor guide, drinking and vaping - even after he asked them to stop. I mean it's not like he could have dropped them off mid-ride but they were obnoxious, loud and disrespectful and pretty much ruined it for those of us that were actually interested in the history and not getting wasted and flirting. I'd definitely reconsider booking a private punting tour to avoid issues like this if you can.
Thank you for your honest review - it seems a little unfair to give us a bad review for other people’s behaviour however. As they may well have only had a few moments with our ground staff who couldn’t have predicted this outcome. We always refuse boarding to people who are overtly drunk but can’t predict how some people will behave - that’s down to them. Maybe we need to find a way to review people!! Please do get in touch so we can send you out on a different tour so you have an experience unlike this one
The guide was very personable and informative. The experience was relaxed and satisfying. I was glad umbrellas were available to provide shade.
Best way to see the colleges, wonderfully relaxing. The guides provide interesting historical knowledge about the river and the colleges.
Very pleasant and informative outing on a beautiful evening. The guide was very good with a great sense of humour.
Very low to sit if you have issues with knees or hips. The crew very helpful with me when getting on and off the punt.
Visited today and cannot fault Cambridge Punt Company. We were held up by traffic and missed our slot. A few quick txts to Jo and they had us rescheduled on the next boat. Our guide Matteo was brilliant, we have used a variety of operators but today’s was by far the best, even on the hottest day of the year!! He was knowledgeable and organic, made us laugh and included everyone. Especially our two teenagers who without his charm and deliverance would have found it rather “ bore” I’m sure. A huge thank you to him for his local knowledge and for finding shade! Thank you all for a truly lovely family experience.
Our punt ‘driver’ Eamon was very good, we left on time and for the allotted duration. He gave lots of information along the route and it was a very smooth boat ride - no collusions despite a lot of boats to navigate through.
Really enjoyed our tour with Cambridge Punt Company. Our guide, Eamon, was brilliant — funny, friendly, helpful and really good at making the tour interesting throughout. He was a great guide and added a lot to the experience. The tour itself was also really good and a lovely way to see Cambridge. Would definitely recommend.
Superb. Great knowledge from the guide and would highly recommend if visiting Cambridge.
Beautiful way to spend time on the river! Received a warm welcome on arrival, had booked so didn't have to wait long for our boat. Was offered a hand to get in and out of the boat, and sat jn the front seat where we had amazing views of the river ahead, as our tour guide and captain shared some really interesting history and information as we cruised along in the sunshine. Not far from lovely bars and restaurants, or from the market square and other places of interest. This was our second visit and we would visit again tomorrow if we could!
