It is the biggest freshwater lake in Armenia and one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world.
The monastery consists of two churches, Surp Arakelots (Holy Apostles) and Surp Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God), built with dark volcanic stone. The church is sitting on a hill, it offers panoramic views of Lake Sevan and the surrounding mountains.

Arsen was my tour guide and he was fantastic - great communication and very good knowledge. Was able to help me out with everything and gave very good recommendations. Would definitely recommend him and Tatev tours.
The tour was very convenient to schedule and the itinerary was flexible. The guide was friendly and gave us glimpse of the history of the places we went to and we stopped in between for photos in the beautiful mountain roads. The monastery in Sevan lake had 200 stairs but we have the flexibility to go up or not. Even below the monastery there are souvenir shops, fruit shop, bakeries and restaurant so you can opt to stay down and visit these stores. Overall it was lovely experience the road trip to all the places itself is really good.
