Itinerary

50 min

Goshavank Monastery is a 12th–13th century Armenian Apostolic monastery located near the village of Gosh in the Tavush Province of Armenia. It is named after the medieval Armenian scholar Mkhitar Gosh, who contributed to its construction and development. The complex is renowned for its intricate khachkars (carved cross-stones), beautiful stone architecture, and serene forested surroundings.

50 min

After that you will make a stop at the monastery of Haghartsin, dating back to the 10th-14th centuries. The name is translated as “the play of the eagle”. The scenery is somewhat similar to a stunning work of art, with both the monastery and the nature surrounding it providing a breathtaking view. It is one of those spots in Armenia that feels like a breathtaking unreal movie set. The refectory of Haghartsin is considered the biggest amongst Armenian Church architecture; it was an absolute innovation of its time! If you are curious as to why, there will be nothing better than seeing it for yourself!

30 min

Dilijan Old Town, located in the town of Dilijan in Armenia’s Tavush Province, is a charming historic area known for its well-preserved traditional Armenian architecture. The streets are lined with wooden houses, cobblestone paths, and artisan shops, giving visitors a sense of the town’s 19th–20th century character. Often called the “Armenian Switzerland,” Dilijan Old Town is surrounded by lush forests and offers a peaceful, scenic atmosphere.

60 min

Lake Sevan is the largest freshwater lake in Armenia and one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world, located in the Gegharkunik Province. Sevanavank Monastery, perched on a peninsula overlooking the lake, was founded in the 9th century and is famous for its striking medieval Armenian architecture. The site offers panoramic views of the sparkling blue waters and surrounding mountains, making it a popular destination for both pilgrims and tourists.

Can I give 10 stars?

In the year of COVID, I thought my travel options had evaporated. Then work sent me to Armenia for the month of December. Hoping to capitalize on the opportunity, I booked two private tours (for myself and a colleague) over a weekend. On Saturday we took the Lake Sevan, Sevanavank, Dilijan Old Town, Goshavank & Haghartsin tour. On Sunday we took the Khor Virap, Noravank, Hin Areni Winery, and Jermuk tour. The tours were absolutely perfect. Arman (driver) and Arman (tour guide) accompanied us on both trips. They were fabulous. Arman's driving was very safe, and Arman (the tour guide) was the best tour guide I've ever had, in any country. Honestly, he knew everything! I didn't hold back with questions - even questions outside the tour stops (e.g. evolution and history of the Armenian language, Armenian archaeology, Armenia's relations with neighboring countries, import and export facts) - and for each he provided a thoughtful and well-informed answer. I think Yerani’s prices were quite reasonable for any country, and their prices are more than competitive for Armenia, especially considering that this is a professional tour company with true professionals in their employment. I was even impressed with Liza, their employee who contacted both of us via WhatsApp in advance to confirm our contact details and all plans for both trips. Liza was professional, thorough, but also very personable, which was appreciated. I highly recommend Yerani Travel. And if you can, ask for Arman and Arman to accompany you on your trip.
