Self Guided E-Bike Tour: Camino de Santiago

Itinerary

Pass by

The route starts in Valença, a small city located in the border with Spain along the Minho River. Valença Fortress has 5km of walls that were essential in the defense of Portugal against neighboring Spain. Here it’s marked the end of Portuguese territory and the beginning of the Way of Santiago in Galician lands.

Pass by

After passing the metal bridge that connects Portugal to Spain, we arrive to Tui. Paddling through the cobbled and winding streets, we realize the inherent medieval layout of this city. A region full of history, has among its architectural heritage a Romanesque and Gothic cathedral, the churches of St. Bartolomeu and St. Telmo.

Pass by

After Tui and through dirt roads, woods and bridges we reach Porriño. We highlight the chapel of San Benito, the church of Santa Maria and the Ayuntamento.

720 min

We will arrive in Pontevedra at the end of the first day, where we will spend the night and all the effort is rewarded. This city is known for its hospitality, where we can find monuments over 4000 years old, a beautiful historical center, fountains, avenues and squares full of life.

Pass by

Along the route from Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis, some of the most beautiful and ancient stone cruises that prove to be on the right track to Santiago are beginning to emerge. The entrance to Caldas de Reis is next to the Santa Maria Church, the bridge over the Umia River is crossed to the famous Las Burgas hot spring

Pass by

We left Caldas de Reis and headed towards Padrón. According to myth after a big and dangerous trip, the boat in which the Apostle's disciples moved his corpse from Palestine, stopped at this place. The boat was tied to a pedrón - a large cylindrical stone - buried at the river's side. Once the sarcophagus had landed with the Apostle's body, the people went to Compostela to bury him in the land where he had preached in life.

Pass by

Arriving at the end of the trip, through narrow and stony alleys, we entered Santiago through the Pilar Church. As well as the paths that guide pilgrims, the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Super tour and super super staff

We did the self-guided tour during our trip to Portugal. The region is really beautiful and having an e-mountain bike, it gives us the ability to go farther that we would hiking or go in places car would not. The bike went super well, and it's nice having the freedom to go on our own and at our speed. The team is super friendly, to the point they spent an hour an a half at the end of their day helping us open our car after we locked our keys inside the trunk!!! Toboga team, you were really amazing helping us with that, and I guess if you read this comment, you will remember us :) If we return to Portugal, we'll do canyoning...
