Savannah Dead of Night: Adults-Only Ghost Walking Tour

Description
Dead of Night is Ghost City Tours’ darker Savannah experience, created for guests ages 16 and older who want to explore the city’s more disturbing history after dark. Walk through Savannah’s Historic District as your Ghost City Tours Ambassador uncovers stories of murder, betrayal, tragedy, historic burial grounds, and the reported hauntings tied to the people and places behind them. The later hour and mature subject matter allow this tour to go beyond the stories told on our family-friendly experiences and explore a side of Savannah that is more complicated, unsettling, and rarely discussed in daylight. This is an outdoor evening walking and storytelling experience focused on Savannah’s history, legends, and reported paranormal activity.

Itinerary
By day, Johnson Square radiates elegance—but by night, its polished surface hides a much darker past. Beneath your feet lie the unmarked graves of Savannah’s earliest dead, buried in haste, lost to time, and some say, not entirely at rest. Surrounded by monuments to power and prestige, this square has seen duels, mysterious deaths, and whispered conspiracies. On this adults-only tour, we peel back the genteel façade to reveal the uneasy spirits and secrets still lurking in the shadows of Savannah’s oldest square.
Walk alongside Savannah’s oldest intact municipal cemetery, established in 1750 and home to generations of the city’s early residents. Hear darker stories connected to the cemetery and the reported paranormal activity surrounding one of Savannah’s most historic burial grounds.
Elegant by day, The Marshall House hides a sinister past soaked in blood and sorrow. Once a Civil War hospital, its halls echoed with the screams and the groans of the dying. Even viewing from the outside looking in, you may feel the eerie sensation of not being alone. On this adults-only tour, we’ll reveal the chilling tales buried behind its refined façade—where the spirits of the war still roam the halls, and some say... never left their beds.
432 Abercorn Street is one of Savannah’s most whispered-about haunts. Locals cross the street rather than pass too close, and for good reason—its dark windows seem to watch, and its past refuses to stay buried. Delve into the unsettling legends that make 432 Abercorn the stuff of nightmares. Some say the house is cursed... others say it’s still very much alive.
Regal on the outside, the Sorrell-Weed House is one of Savannah’s darkest legends within. Plagued by stories of tragic deaths, violent hauntings, and sinister secrets, this grand mansion is said to be a hotspot of intense paranormal activity. Whispers of murder, madness, and forbidden affairs cling to its halls, and some report cold touches in the dark. We will pull back the veil to explore what truly happened behind closed doors—and why the spirits here refuse to stay silent.
Explore one of Savannah’s original squares and the burial place of Yamacraw leader Tomochichi, whose relationship with James Oglethorpe helped shape the city’s earliest years. The square later became associated with public executions and some of Savannah’s most enduring ghost stories.

Although Henry was very knowledgeable, it was difficult to hear everything he was saying. I think a microphone would have been ideal. Also, stop talking when a loud noise is nearby.
Was a great experience loved it! I was mistaken on the ghost hunting part I though we where gonna stop and ghost hunt or go inside the buildings but was mistaken but its still great because you learn about each spirit that are the main spirts
Thank you for the great review! We’re so glad you still had a wonderful experience and enjoyed learning about the spirits connected to each stop. The Dead of Night Tour is focused on haunted history and storytelling rather than a paranormal investigation or entering the buildings, so we appreciate you sharing that perspective for future guests. Thanks for joining us and exploring Savannah’s darker side!
Our guide was fantastic but we were disappointed in the experience. We should have done better research. We thought we would get to go inside of places but that is not the case with this tour. If we had known we would have chose something else.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you had a fantastic guide, and we’re sorry the overall experience wasn’t what you expected. The Dead of Night Tour is an outdoor walking tour focused on the stories, history, and reported hauntings connected to each location rather than entry into the buildings themselves. We understand how that difference can affect the experience, and we appreciate you sharing it for future guests.
Our guests said it was not scary, but it gave an excellent history of Savannah. They really enjoyed the tour guide.
Thank you for sharing the feedback! We’re glad your guests enjoyed the guide and came away with a strong sense of Savannah’s history. While the level of “scary” can vary from person to person, we’re happy the storytelling and historical side of the tour still made for an enjoyable experience. Thanks for joining us!
Group was too big to enjoy the tour. Smaller groups and this tour would rock but was really disappointed.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry the group size made it difficult to fully enjoy the Dead of Night Tour. We appreciate you pointing this out, and we understand how much the size of a group can affect the overall experience. We’re glad you saw the potential in the tour, and we’ll keep your comments in mind as we continue working to improve the experience for our guests.
Our tour guide Suzi was amazing! We learned a lot about the history of Savannah as well as the supernatural side of it. Suzi was very friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and answered any questions the group had. Highly recommend this tour.
Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad Suzi made your Dead of Night Tour such a great experience. It’s fantastic to hear that you enjoyed both Savannah’s history and its supernatural side, and that Suzi’s knowledge and personality made the evening even more memorable. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to her. Thanks for joining us and for the recommendation!
Amanda was very knowledgeable, friendly, and made the night fun. However I do wish the groups was smaller and the walk could have been slower as to enjoy the walk and take all the experience in better
Savannah's Ghost City "Dead of Night" Walking Night Tour Amanda was very knowledgeable, friendly, and made the night fun. However I do wish the groups was smaller and the walk could have been slower as to enjoy the walk and take all the experience in better
Wonderful tour. He had a lot of knowledge and stories. The weather was a bit drizzly, but held out any major storms. Absolutely loved the places that we stopped and the history behind them.
Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the stories, the history, and the locations along the Dead of Night Tour. A little Savannah drizzle can certainly add to the atmosphere, and we’re glad the bigger storms stayed away! Thanks for spending the evening exploring the haunted side of Savannah with us.
We were so excited for our ghost tour! We were looking forward to being scared, like other tours we have taken in other places. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting stories, mostly about the war, illness, cemeteries and mass graves under houses. Unfortunately, the tour was very large, it was difficult to hear what they were saying, and we had a couple who was inebriated and arguing with each other and other people on the tour. I would recommend a tour with less people to get the full experience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad you found your guide knowledgeable and enjoyed the history and stories shared along the way. We’re sorry, however, that the larger group size and disruption from other guests made it difficult to hear and fully enjoy the tour. We understand how much that can affect the atmosphere, especially when you’re looking forward to a spooky experience. We appreciate your feedback and will keep it in mind as we continue working to create the best possible experience for our guests.
Our tour guide, Dylan, was great. Very knowledgeable, funny and welcomed all questions. We did the 11pm tour which added a spookier vibe and welcomed cooler weather. Highly recommend this tour.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We’re so glad Dylan made the tour both fun and informative and created such a welcoming atmosphere for questions. An 11 PM tour definitely adds a little extra spooky ambiance—and cooler temperatures are always a bonus! We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to Dylan. Thanks for joining us and for the recommendation!
