Sarajevo Under Siege: Tunnel of Hope Small Group Tour

Description
This is not a tour focused only on dates and events, it’s about understanding how people actually lived through the siege of Sarajevo. Instead of a large group and a scripted experience, this tour is designed as a small group where there is space for questions, discussion, and a more personal approach. A key part of the experience is the visit to a local veterans museum, where those who defended the city share their stories directly with visitors. These are perspectives that cannot be fully captured through books or documentaries. The goal of this tour is simple: to give you a clear, human understanding of what Sarajevo went through.

Itinerary
Start your tour with a panoramic view over Sarajevo, where the entire city opens in front of you. From this vantage point, you’ll clearly see how the siege ring was formed and understand how Sarajevo became completely surrounded.
Drive along one of the most dangerous streets during the siege. As you pass through Sniper Alley, you’ll learn what daily life looked like for civilians living at the bottom of the valley, where even the simplest movement could mean exposure to danger.
Visit the Tunnel of Hope, the only connection Sarajevo had with the outside world during the siege. Learn how and why it was built, how it functioned, and why it became a lifeline for food, supplies, and survival.
Visit a local museum created by the people who defended this part of the city from the very beginning. Hear firsthand stories from those who lived through the siege, from ordinary civilians whose lives changed overnight, to defenders of Sarajevo sharing their experiences directly with visitors. Guests are welcome to ask any questions, no matter how personal or direct. Free admission. Visitors are welcome to support the museum with a voluntary donation.

We had a great experience on this tour: Adis is very open to any questions and gives great explanations and context for the history. The veterans museum is definitely a highlight you should not miss to really get a personal and intimate view into this part of Sarajevo history. Highly recommended. Thank you!
We had a wonderful guided tour to the siege of Sarajevo. Adis responded to all our questions superbly and created a very pleasant atmosphere. We've learned a lot. Especially the conversation with the war veteran was very impressive. I can only recommend this tour, as you get a very personal and authentic insight into the history here.
I did many walking tours but this really is a unique one. Adis knows the City and People in depth and I enjoyed talking to him a lot. If you are really interested in getting more than just a general tour, he is the right person. I left with lasting memories and appreciate the sides I got to see of Sarajevo.
My husband and I did the free walking tour with ADIS on Friday October 8 and really enjoyed it. ADIS was knowledgeable friendly and offered a balanced view of the history of Sarajevo with a sense of humour! We also did the Inside the Siege tour with his assistant who was a really excellent guide and offered a young person’s perspective together with an impressive wealth of historical information. Both guides have excellent English so that it was easy to ask questions and make conversation. We would highly recommend.
Fantastic and informative tour, lots of opportunities to ask questions and you get to see pretty much the whole city. It was a small group (4 people + 1 guide) so the car was a bit of a squeeze. But altogether a fantastic way to spend an afternoon in Sarajevo
I had an amazing experience on the Sarajevo city tour! Our guide was very charismatic and made the entire experience both engaging and enjoyable. His deep knowledge of Sarajevo’s history brought the city to life, and he shared fascinating stories that I would have never discovered on my own. I highly recommend his tour to anyone visiting Sarajevo – it’s an experience you won’t forget!
the guide made everything very interesting while being super nice and fun, a great way to learn about Sarajewos history! He answered any questions we had and gave us some personal tips on what places he can recommend around the old town
Super interesting and helpful to understand the history of Sarajevo starting from the end of 'Tito era' to today. 3 hours of full history that flew by. Also very well organized and I liked the idea of being in a small group (4 people).
We booked the tour after taking Adis' free walking tour and admiring his style and his professionalism. This tour was even richer. We learned so much about the historic events and Adis had answers for every question. He is very skilled and knows perfectly the history of the region and the Balkans. Thank you so much for this tour
Adis was such a great guide we did the walking tour with him and he was so knowledgeable. The next day we did a tour in his car around Sarajevo and saw the tunnel that was built during the war. Overall such an amazing experience getting information from a true local. Thanks Adis
