The wine guide Matthias was amazing. He was very informative giving us the history of wine and ancient Greece - of the roads, churches and winemaking. At the wine museum , Eri informed us on winemaking and the wines at the tasting. The wines were better than any so far- we are from wine country in California. The little town of Megalorchi was so authentic. The Prophet of Elijah’s church at the top of the mountain was so surreal. You could feel the centuries of history in it! Would highly recommend.
Loved everything about this trip, great guide and driver. Visit to the winery and tasting was enjoyable, the museum was very interesting. Lovely meal at the end of the trip and great views of the sunset with a glass of wine.
we were running a little late (as we climbed all 600 steps up the side of the cliff with the donkeys)! Our tour guide was incredibly patient, helpful, knowledgeable and thoughtful! Had the most amazing time at the wine tasting, and we saw the highest point of Santorini with breathtaking views of the Island! Dinner at Septem was magical with 4 -course authentic Greek food!
Faye our guide was so nice and lovely to my mam who is a little older and hard of hearing . Was very interesting and learned a lot whille tasting some nice wines !
Our sunset cultural tour consisted of four parts: a visit to the traditional village of Megalochori and it's old cave house, a stopover with a sweeping view of the Caldera, the Santorini wine museum, and a trip to the island's highest peak on the territory of the Prophet Elijah monastery. Megalochori is a festival of colour, with the flowers and the blue domes of the churches accentuated by the traditional white. Our guide Elena revealed the secrets of the surrounding vineyards with their deep rooted vines and basalt rocks. The traditional cave house in the village showed the austere lifestyle of villagers in the 17th century. At the Caldera stop, Elena described the rich geological history of the island, and we took photos against the epic backdrop of the volcano. The wine museum is based in the old underground cellar of the Koutsogiannopoulos winery. It shows the journey of a family of wine merchants, starting from humble beginnings with their ship being blown off course to Santorini, and developing a thriving and pioneering wine empire. The final stop was the peak of Profitis Ilias mountain, and a stopover in the monastery's church and shop. Our driver Dinas who took us to the peak was very professional, and we always felt safe. On the way there we saw a plane lifting off below us, and the views from the peak were unparalleled. The monks have a beautiful church open to visitors, and a shop with goods and food of the highest quality. What made the tour very special and gave it a human touch was Elena's deep knowledge and true love of the island and it's culture. She gave great photo tips and took photos for us. She gave a genuine insight into island life and history.
Angelo was amazing and very gracious- he was very knowledgeable but still kept it funny - the night went by way to quickly- the food and sunset views were phenomenal ! I would definitely recommend
This tour was very interesting and Panos and Peter was very kind ! I recommanded this wine tasting tour with the dinner, the greek food was very good and we watch the sunset peacefully.
We couldn’t recommend this tour enough! You start by learning some of the history of wine in Santorini and the wine museum, followed by wine tasting. Then explore a beautiful old village, before going to the highest point of Santorini to see 360 views. Finished off by a feast and a beautiful restaurant with great company. We loved this tour and would do it again and again
We had a small transportation issue. Wine tasting fell a little short of expectations but the other group was great. The wine was ok We saw some nice sites and learned a lot about the wine community. The weather did not cooperate for the sunset part of the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
The tour guide was very nice! The areas that we went to were not congested which is a major plus. He informed us about local living and the surrounding local areas. Most places are packed with so many tourist so I’m happy to have had a more intimate experience. I wish the wine tasting was longer with more wine and parings but I enjoyed what we were given. Ending at the peak and learning about the surrounding islands was informative and breathtaking! We missed the sunset unfortunately because we needed to leave early to catch a flight but that was totally on our improper planning. Please give yourself until 8:30pm when you book this tour!
