Itinerary

180 min

The Fira–Oia hike is one of the best ways to discover Santorini, taking you along the stunning caldera cliffs and through the charming villages of Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli, and Oia. You will walk the same paths once used by merchants, farmers, and sailors, learning about the island’s history and culture along the way.

20 min

Fira is the beautiful capital of the island and the biggest and most cosmopolitan settlement of Santorini. It is located in the western edge of the island, opposite the volcano and the two volcanic islands, Palaia Kammeni and Nea Kammeni that lie in the sea. Fira is a combination of natural beauty, social life, night life, and shopping, where you can feel the liveliness of the island and where all the action takes place. What makes it so ravishing is the Caldera view that leaves visitors speechless anytime of the day. A walk to the scenic alleys during the daytime will fill you with harmony. There is a wealth of restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs where you can relax and enjoy the tremendous view or dance and have fun. It actually owns the greatest dining out and entertainment selection of the island and the largest shopping center, too. Moreover, there are many clothes shops, gift shops, souvenir shops, supermarkets and other facilities for every need.

20 min

Firostefani is a tranquil, cliffside village on the Greek island of Santorini, renowned for its breathtaking views and authentic charm. Located just 1 kilometer north of Fira, the island's bustling capital, Firostefani is perched on the western edge of Santorini’s caldera at an elevated position, offering panoramic views of the Aegean Sea, the volcano, and neighboring islands. The village’s name, which translates to "Crown of Fira", reflects its position overlooking Santorini’s stunning caldera and its proximity to Fira. Visitors to Firostefani can enjoy the best of both worlds: a peaceful, scenic environment just a short walk away from the vibrant nightlife, shops, and dining options of Fira. Known for its traditional Cycladic architecture, whitewashed buildings, and iconic blue-domed churches, Firostefani offers a more laid-back experience, making it ideal for those who want to savor Santorini’s natural beauty in a quieter setting.

20 min

The village of Imerovigli, also known as “The balcony to the Aegean”, is built on the highest point of the caldera cliffs, about 300 meters above sea level. It is situated at the north part of the island, 3 kilometers from the capital of Fira. Its position provides a magnificent view of the famous volcano, the sparkling Aegean Sea and the sunset that is out of this world. The notable attraction of the village is the famous, immense rock called Skaros that lies on the seaward side. It is of paramount importance since it was one of the five fortresses of Santorini and the most significant one. There are numerous churches and chapels in Imerovigli, among them the prominent church of Panagia Malteza and the chapel of Panagia Theoskepasti, built on the cliff edge in front of Skaros offering a unique panaromic view of the caldera.

20 min

Oia is considered the most picturesque village of Santorini and holds the position of the most visited spot for sunset viewing, as it provides an excellent view of the well-known sunset, probably the most famous sunset in the world. It is on the northwest coast of Santorini and it is built on the caldera slope. It is no wonder that a few movies have been filmed in Oia, for its beauty is unprecedented. It is a synthesis of white-blue houses and churches, with pink and ocher details, “hanging” on the caldera, composing a colorful canvas that is difficult to put in words. In Oia you can stroll in the charming narrow paths, visit shops, galleries and enjoy the atmospheric cafes, bars and restaurants. At the bottom of the village is Ammoudi Bay where there is a row of traditional taverns by the sea with local food. You can also swim there, in wonderful crystal waters with the breathtaking caldera view above you, if you take the small path that leads to a unique diving area.

Awesome Hike led by Petros

If you’re looking for one of the best experiences in Santorini, this hike is a must! Our tour guide was incredibly wise, knowledgeable, and passionate about the island’s history, culture, and hidden gems. Every stop came with fascinating stories that made the scenery even more meaningful. The hike itself was a fantastic workout with breathtaking views the entire way. We also had plenty of opportunities to take amazing photos that we’ll treasure forever. It was the perfect combination of exercise, sightseeing, and learning. I couldn’t recommend this tour more highly—an unforgettable experience!

A great day!

Our tour guide Despoina was the absolute best! So knowledgeable about the plants, the history, and the culture of Santorini and Greece in general. She was entertaining and personable, as well as passionate. The hike was paced incredibly well for my sister, my aunt and I, and we stopped, Despoina had water and snacks for us, and the trail was great.

The perfect Santorini tour with heart, history, breathtaking views, and memories to last forever

We had the absolute pleasure of touring Santorini with Despoina, and she made our experience unforgettable! From the moment we met her, her warmth, kindness, and genuine love for Santorini shined through. Her knowledge of the island’s history, culture, and traditions was incredible, but what touched us most was her deep appreciation for the land itself. She shared fascinating stories about the local herbs, wildflowers, vineyards, and the people who have called this beautiful island home for generations. Her passion was truly contagious. The walk was the perfect combination of breathtaking scenery and a great workout. Every step brought another incredible view, and Despoina kept us smiling, laughing, and engaged the entire time. What made this tour so special was the heart she poured into every moment. It never felt like a scripted tour. It felt like spending the day with someone who genuinely loves her island and wanted us to experience it through her eyes. She even surprised us with a thoughtful gift at the end, a beautiful gesture that perfectly reflected her generosity. As if that weren’t enough, she captured nearly 500 incredible photos, allowing us to stay completely present while she preserved every special moment. Those memories are something we’ll cherish forever. If you’re visiting Santorini, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Despoina. She is knowledgeable, energetic, thoughtful, and one of the most authentic guides we’ve ever met. Her deep love for Santorini, its history, people, herbs, flowers, and natural beauty transforms a simple walking tour into an unforgettable experience. We left not only with amazing memories and beautiful photos, but with a genuine appreciation for this extraordinary island and the people who call it home. Thank you, Despoina, for sharing your heart with us. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Beautiful way to connect with Santorini!

Spectacular hike along the caldera with guide Panos, who knows every pebble on the path. Although you can do this hike yourself, the advantage of going with a friendly guide like Panos is that he explains the geological formations that you see, as well as the way Santorini has evolved in modern times - how the island gets fresh water, why solar panels used in some places, but not others, and really any question that you have. When you finish, you’ll feel like you’ve connected with the island. Panos is also very responsive, and can adjust the timing of your tour if necessary. He also provides a free transfer back to Fira and great lunch recommendations. Overall, a super experience!
