Itinerary
Pyrgos casteli (45 minutes)Pyrgos was built on the top of a hill and was until the early 1800, the capital of the island. The village is composed of traditional houses built around the Venetian Castle and the small streets follow the shape of the hill. Climbing from the square up to the castle of Pyrgos, the stone houses crowd more densely together and the labyrinth of narrow vaulted lanes becomes more tortuous. The village has many churches, around 33, but the most famous is the Monastery of Profitis Ilias, where a small collection of ethnographic material and old icons are exhibits. Pyrgos is a place that certainly worth a visit and dedicate enough time to the most fabulous panoramic view of the island.
Profitis Ilias (30 minutes)The highest spot of the island (567 meters) is located between Pyrgos and Kamari. The Mountain's name is Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elijah), coming from the Monastery with the same name on its peak. From this vantage point, you will enjoy a striking view of the entire island, from the patchwork agricultural plains to the hilltop village of Oia.
• Megalochori traditional village (45 minutes) with its typical traditional Cycladic houses and neoclassic buildings. It is located between Pyrgos, Emporio and Akrotiri at a distance of less than 10 km from Fira. It is made of hundreds of small white painted houses built the one upon the other and it is characterized by its beautiful churches. It combines traditional architecture with vaulted houses and calderimia (stone-cobbled narrow pathways) and a lively community with a fairly large permanent population
Emporio-traditional village - representing Cycladic authentic architecture, walking through the last standing Venetian castle, from the 15th century / old authentic complex of houses, labyrinthine narrow streets
* Akrotiri - edge of the island, beautiful viewpoint from south side/end of the island. - Archeological site / Minoan civilization - excavations / 5000 years ago ( location without walking, only inside the archeological site is necessary walking - 30 minutes minimum , flat surface, bio-climate roof, protected from the sun - inside the huge building is archaeological site/excavation)
ed Beach in Akrotiri, Santorini, is a stunning natural wonder known for its striking red-hued cliffs and unique volcanic sands. The beach is famous for its dramatic landscape, created by the iron-rich volcanic minerals. It's a popular destination for tourists seeking picturesque views and a one-of-a-kind beach experience.

I had a wonderful experience. Aris is a perfect tour guide of the island. He knows very well the history of the island, we can feel he is passion while he was bringing us around. He is very gentle and patient on answering all questions (also the stupid once). He also has a very good music taste ( ask for some Greek music advice). The guy is very funny and interesting, we had a really good conversation about his life and I would say it was as much interesting as the tour.
Milan was an enthusiastic and excellent guide to the history and off the beaten path beauty of Santorini. We loved pulling off the road to learn how wine grows, to hear about the beginnings of European settlement and to discover how eruptions have shaped geological and early Minoan history. We would have enjoyed hearing more about modern history, food and culture but the sights we saw, including an excellent restaurant overlooking a harbor, a small town still enjoying traditional life and long beautiful beaches, filled in some of the gaps. We so enjoyed our private tour and heartily recommend Milan.
We had an extraordinary experience with Arris. First of all, communication was really easy with him. Secondly, the car used was in very good condition super comfortable, and everything was at our disposal bottle of water Wi-Fi, Arris has very great knowledge about Santorini, its history. and he showed us around the best places while respecting the type of tour we wanted to do. He was very funny, humorous and entertaining and often offered himself to take pictures of us. We were a group of 11 and we all loved Arris without exception. We recommend 100%.
We had an outstanding experience exploring Santorini with Aris!! Very knowledgeable, and polite! Transportation was smooth and the can was very clean. For 5 hours together he drove us to at least 5 different locations, we were able to have some alone time and shop, grab a drink and lunch at the sea tavern! Overall if I ever go back to Santorini- Aris ,as a guide -would be my number one choice!
Aris is outstanding! He knows the history of Greece and Santorini. He was delightful! Made excellent suggestions, showing us the island and off the beaten track beautiful spots. Including history as it relates. Great personality! Highly recommend! A must when you go to Santorini
