Tour guide was a great story teller. Very knowledgeable on the history in Sanford. We enjoyed our tour.
The host is very good. Lots of history and a good backstory. Made me want to learn a lot more about the area
We are thrilled you enjoyed the tour and your time in Historic Downtown Sanford!
Great way to learn more about Sanford. Not very strenuous walk. Stay in the block where you start. A few good stories to keep you up at night but not over the top for kids.
I’ve done numerous ghost tours around the country with my children, and I’m so glad that my favorite one was right here in my hometown of Sanford! Gary is an amazing storyteller, and we had such a great time. We were absolutely fascinated with all of his stories and learned so much about Sanford history. Would highly recommend to anyone! And it’s also very wheelchair accessible.
Sylvia - this review definitely made us smile! Thank you for the kind words.
It was okay. I’ve been to other ghost tours around the world, and was expecting more along the lines of “dark history.” Our guide was knowledgeable about paranormal stories of the area. The tour was short, visiting about five locations, with stories collected from various town residents and backed up with historical details.
Thank you for your feedback. The tour is promoted as a 90-minute tour led by a guide allowing you to learn historical stories and ghostly experiences in Historic Downtown Sanford.
The depth of knowledge of both leaders was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We learned quite a bit about Sanford as well.
This was lots of fun and I learned a bit of history about the Native Americans and an old fort in Sanford. The ghost stories were entertaining, although we didn't actually see any. Both guides were passionate about the subject.
Gary was very informative about the towns history! We had a great time learning and conversing with him. Great date night idea!
Gary, who was our tour guide, definitely knows his stuff and he told some very interesting local stories. We had a feeling that he was trying to stretch the tour by going around in circles. We could have easily done this tour in maybe 45 minutes. Instead we kept zig-zagging from spot to spot while only covering a very short distance. The intro in the shop was very long, and the end of the tour on top of the restaurant was way too long and detailed. We were sweating beneath our masks and very uncomfortable standing up there.
We did the 1.5 hour walking tour of Historic Downtown Sanford and had a blast! We learned so much about the history of the town, and all of the famous people who have stayed there before. It was so interesting to see how so many old building that were covered with stucco, were being uncovered and turned into something new! Nancy was our tour guide and you could definitely tell she was passionate about the city's history. We felt very safe, everyone was wearing their masks and there was plenty of space to socially distance, while still hearing the tour guide. If you love Florida history and Sanford I definitely recommend this tour! We also rented a golf cart after the tour to explore the city. Nancy did an excellent job of letting us know where we could ride, and some of the best places to explore. We got coffee at Palates and lunch at Hollerbachs, and enjoyed strolling through the downtown market! I can't wait to go back and check out more of the breweries and distilleries!
