10 min

This is the perfect place to take your next favorite picture. The incredible view allows you to recognize the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel and the dome and tower of the Templo de San Francisco.

Pass by

Beautiful garden square, with cafes, boutiques and an emblematic pink parish with a Gothic facade.

Pass by

Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel is a 17th-century neo-Gothic church famous for its tall pink spires and majestic ornate sanctuary.

Pass by

It was in this house where Ignacio Allende, one of the most notorious heroes of Mexico's Independence, was born and raised. At the end of 1810 the house was confiscated by the viceregal government; months before, from there the first insurgent army left for its first formal battle.

Pass by

Classifying the architecture style of the church of San Francisco is a real challenge. One expert says that its facade is Baroque, another pure Churrigueresque, one more Rococo, and yet another belief that it is a combination of all of them. In any case, the facade facing the small square of San Francisco has detailed quarry work, lavishly embellished.

Pass by

Originally built in 1555, this square was the center of activity for the population, it was the market and meeting place in its time. Today the statue of Ignacio Allende is the protagonist of the square.

Pass by

Peaceful park with brightly colored flowers, winding paths, shaded benches, and a playground.

Pass by

A colorful craft market, with stalls of hand-embroidered shawls, decorative pottery, and silver jewelry.

Great tour guide but long hours of driving

San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful city with exceptional architecture, colourful streets and a great atmosphere that really reflects Mexican culture. Our guide, Paco, was very good — knowledgeable, friendly and professional throughout the day, and we really appreciated his explanations and guidance. However, it is worth considering the travelling time from Mexico City. With traffic, the journey can take more than 3 hours each way, which makes it a very long day. Although San Miguel de Allende is beautiful and enjoyable to walk around, we felt there was not a huge amount to see compared with the amount of time spent travelling. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and Paco did an excellent job, but personally, I am not sure the long journey from Mexico City is worthwhile unless San Miguel de Allende is somewhere you particularly want to visit.

I would return to San Miguel de Allende

It was a very happy trip together with my daughter; San Miguel de Allende is spectacular, its majestic church, every street and shop have their charm! Thanks to Mariana our guide for her kindness and love in explaining the history to us and for all the beautiful photos she took of us as a souvenir! Our driver Pedro was also wonderful! I would come back for more days!

Ok trip but operator changed dates last minute

The good: San Miguel de Allende is an amazingly charming town and almost a must see. The OK: the tour and guide were pretty decent and covered key highlights of the colonial town. But being in 2 languages made this a bit clunky, but guide seemed to manage well. Not so good: the tour was cancelled on its originally scheduled date and operator reached out to me to see if I can move it out or we wanted a refund. This did mess up our plans a bit but we had no choice. I know they will say they had no choice but the best would make things work. Overall a 3 star. I am sure there are better tours to San Miguel but this is not too bad either

Operator response

Dear Customer, We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the schedule change. Due to operational logistics, it was necessary to make this adjustment, and our team contacted you as soon as possible to offer the available alternatives. We are pleased to know that, despite this situation, you enjoyed the destination, the experience, and the service provided during the tour. Greetings from the Amigo Tours Quality Team, Daniela

San Miguel-pretty little town

The tour started late and finished late which caused me issues with another booking i had. The guide Alvaro was very good though, he did the tour in English and Spanish. Our driver also very good, trying to get us back as early as possible. The tour of San Miguel was quite good, but it is quite a hike to walk down many stairs to the township, a few things like a park and shops to see on the way down, also great views. Given we got back so late, i thought our free time was too long and could easily be shortened, still giving enough time for lunch and visiting the many markets.

City of the Arts

Filled with color and character, San Miguel de Allende is unlike any city I've visited. Every street feels like a work of art, with vibrant facades, stunning architecture, and picturesque views around every corner. More than just a beautiful destination, SMA offers a unique blend of culture, nature, and creativity. From handcrafted treasures and one-of-a-kind gifts to breathtaking overlooks and charming courtyards, there is always something new to discover. Whether you're strolling its cobblestone streets, admiring its colonial architecture, or simply taking in the scenery, San Miguel de Allende invites you to slow down and savor the experience.

Wish we had more time

Great tour! But long travel time almost 4 hours per way. Then we only had 4 hours in the town. Quite short because so many things to see and do. We also had to walk from bus and take taxi back to avoid walking back and save time

Gracias Javier !

Try to get Javier as your guide because he is very knowledgeable about the city, its landmarks, history, and culture. He also made sure every passenger had a great experience and was patient/accommodating for passengers who couldn't get breakfast so they could pull out cash. The tour itself does go by quick before its time to leave, so its a good way to feel out and get a taste if you want to stay more time in SMA. Thats what we did and ended up staying the night in SMA (not part of the tour but Javier and Viator made the process seamless).
