Tour Options
Itinerary
5:00–5:45 AM: Start your journey with pick-up from your hotel in licensed 4x4 vehicles. Settle in for a scenic 3-hour ride through the jungle-covered mountains, with a short stop along the way for restrooms and refreshments.
Arrival at the Port of San Blas 8:30–9:00 AM: Reach the port for check-in and boat arrangements. Though the process can feel busy, the Guna community manages it smoothly, ensuring all travelers are quickly organized. Afterward, step aboard your boat for a 30-minute ride across the Caribbean Sea to your first island destination. During the boat transfer, the boat may make short stops at different islands to pick up or drop off other travelers. PLEASE NOTE that the tour itinerary may depend on ocean & weather conditions.
Isla Perro Chico (Shipwreck) 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM Begin your island-hopping adventure at Isla Perro Chico, one of San Blas’ most famous spots. Relax on its postcard-worthy beaches or swim in calm turquoise waters. Just offshore lies a shallow shipwreck, a top snorkeling site teeming with tropical fish. This easy, beginner-friendly snorkel makes for one of the best underwater photo ops in the region.
The Natural Pool 12:00 – 12:30 PM Continue to the famous Natural Pool — a shallow sandbar in the middle of the sea. Wade through crystal-clear waist-deep waters, search for starfish on the sandy bottom, and soak in the surreal beauty of being surrounded by endless ocean views.
Isla Chichime (Lunch Stop) 1:00 – 2:30 PM Arrive at Isla Chichime, considered one of the crown jewels of the San Blas Islands. Spend free time swimming, sunbathing, or exploring its long sandy shoreline. A freshly prepared island lunch of fish, chicken, or vegetarian options awaits in a rustic beachfront setting — a true taste of Guna culture.
Isla Diablo 2:45 – 3:30 PM Your final island visit is Isla Diablo, a small, lively paradise with swaying palms and inviting waters. Take a dip, capture your last San Blas memories, or simply relax on the beach before heading back.
Boat Ride Back to the Port 3:30 – 4:00 PM: Return to the mainland by boat. Depending on logistics, your journey may include short stops at other islands to pick up or drop off fellow travelers. These pauses often provide unique glimpses of Guna life and smaller community islands.
Drive Back to Panama City 4:00 – 7:00 PM: Meet your 4x4 driver for the ride back through the jungle highlands. The return trip takes about 3–3.5 hours, with arrival in Panama City around 7:00 PM, depending on weather and traffic.

- ⚠️ IMPORTANT – SAN BLAS DAY TOUR DISCLAIMER – PLEASE READ San Blas is one of the most beautiful and untouched island paradises in the world — turquoise waters, white sand beaches, and the unique culture of the Guna people. At the same time, San Blas is very rustic. Think of it as a cultural adventure in a tropical island setting rather than a luxury excursion. ➡️ If you expect 5-star comfort, we recommend our other tours in Panama. ✅ If you come with an open mind, you’ll discover an authentic, once-in-a-lifetime experience far from mass tourism. Our Service vs. Local Service We provide excellent service during your booking process and will assist you before and during your trip. However: • We do not own or operate the islands. • Once you arrive, all services are provided by the local Guna community. • Service style, pace, and organization may differ from conventional tourism destinations. • Service may feel slower or less structured — this is part of the authentic San Blas experience. ️ What to Expect on a San Blas Day Tour Transportation • Car ride: 2.5–3 hours from Panama City on curvy mountain roads in shared 4x4 SUVs (6 passengers per vehicle). Extra seat = additional cost. • Pick-up: Between 5:00–5:30 AM. Guests must be ready on time. Drivers cannot wait more than 10 minutes. • Port check-in: May feel busy or informal, but the Guna community maintains an organized system and ensures guests are assisted. • Boat ride: 20–40 minutes and may be bumpy or wet. A dry bag for electronics is strongly recommended. • Transfers: Boats may stop at additional islands to pick up or drop off guests. • Tour itinerary may vary depending on ocean, weather, or operational conditions. ️ Island Experience • Facilities are very basic — limited shade, simple bathrooms, and rustic surroundings. • Some beaches are shallow; swimming areas may require walking further from shore. • Islands can become busy, especially during high season. • Expect a relaxed island pace rather than fixed or rigid schedules. ️ Food & Drinks • Meals are freshly prepared in local kitchens. • Typical dishes include fish or chicken, rice, salad, and patacones. • One drink is included (water, soda, or beer). • Additional drinks or snacks may be purchased before departure or from local vendors on the islands. Guna Culture • Only Guna community members are permitted to operate tourism services in San Blas. • Many local operators speak limited English. • Service is simple and community-based rather than hotel-style. • Guests must respect local traditions — please ask permission before taking photos and dress modestly when visiting villages. Nature & Environment • Ocean currents occasionally bring natural debris or plastics despite regular community clean-up efforts. • Sandflies and mosquitoes are common during the rainy or windless season (approximately April–December). Insect repellent is strongly recommended. • Weather conditions are unpredictable, and rain may occur at any time. Refunds are not provided due to weather conditions. Health, Safety & Regional Conditions San Blas tours operate within the autonomous Guna Yala territory, where transportation, maritime services, and tourism infrastructure are managed by the local Guna community under their regional governance and operational standards. San Blas is a remote island destination with limited infrastructure and emergency resources. While local operators prioritize passenger safety and follow local maritime practices, transportation conditions, equipment standards, and response capabilities may differ from those typically found in highly regulated international tourism destinations. Guests acknowledge that travel in remote maritime regions involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: • Changing weather or ocean conditions • Boat or transportation delays • Mechanical or fuel-related interruptions • Itinerary or island stop modifications • Logistical limitations related to remote island operations Boat captains and local maritime operators have full authority to adjust routes, schedules, or island visits when necessary for safety or operational reasons. Due to the remote island environment, mechanical or operational delays may occasionally occur. When this happens, local operators coordinate assistance or passenger transfers as available. These situations are considered inherent risks of maritime travel in remote regions. Medical care on the islands is extremely limited. Serious medical situations may require evacuation to Panama City at the guest’s expense. Travel insurance is strongly recommended: www.taotravel365.tours/travel-insurance By booking and participating in this tour, guests confirm they have read, understood, and accepted these regional travel conditions. Final Note San Blas day tours are not luxury experiences — they are about disconnecting, embracing a unique indigenous culture, and experiencing one of the most pristine island environments in the world. Come with patience, flexibility, and respect. The Guna community may appear reserved at first, but they are welcoming and proud of their homeland. With the right mindset, you will leave with unforgettable memories of one of the most extraordinary destinations on Earth.
- During the boat transfer, the boat may make short stops at different islands to pick up or drop off other travelers.
- While the check-in process in the port may feel busy and a little unstructured, the local Guna community has a well-established system, and all guests are taken care of.
- The road to San Blas is very curvy. If you are sensitive to motion sickness, please prepare accordingly by bringing appropriate medication.

Thank you for your helpful review, Tahesha! 😊 Those are great tips for future travelers. San Blas is a remote paradise, and packing light, wearing water shoes, bringing sunscreen, and carrying some extra water can make the experience even more enjoyable. We're so glad you joined us and hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure!
The San Blas archipelago is a paradise-like place: white sand beaches, crystal clear and warm waters. In some places, it is possible to observe starfish. The people of the Guna community are very attentive and look after all the passengers. The lunch was delicious and abundant. It is important to note that the road between Guna Yala and Panama City goes through a hilly area, with many curves, switchbacks, ascents, and descents. Those who get motion sickness should take precautions because the journey is long. The person in charge of the transfer is attentive to the well-being of the passengers, but cannot change the route layout.
I would recommend them because the tour guides and island hosts were professional... It would have been a nice touch if they were warm and it didn't feel so transactional. I encourage that you come with a group so that you can enjoy the experience and personal connections. Also be prepared to nervous with the drive through the mountains, the driver drove fast so it felt like a roller coaster with no guard rails.
Thank you for your feedback, David. We're pleased to hear you found our guides and island hosts professional. While we're sorry you felt the interactions were more transactional than personal, many of our guests appreciate that our team respects visitors' space while remaining available whenever needed. Regarding the drive, we'd like to reassure future travelers that the road to San Blas is fully paved and is traveled safely every day by experienced 4x4 drivers. Some guests find the winding mountain road exciting, while others may feel less comfortable with curves, but it is not an unsafe route. San Blas is a remote indigenous paradise, and the journey is part of the adventure. Travelers looking for a destination with easy city access and luxury-style comfort may be better suited to tours around Panama City. Those who embrace nature, simplicity, and the unique beauty of San Blas usually find the experience incredibly rewarding. Thank you again for choosing to travel with us, and we wish you many more wonderful adventures.
It was absolutely amazing I would definitely do this again the people the guides were so nice I will definitely be coming back
Thank you so much for your wonderful review, Angela! We're thrilled to hear you had such an amazing experience in San Blas. The islands truly are a little piece of paradise, and we're delighted that our guides and the local Guna community helped make your day so memorable. We can't wait to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure. Thank you for choosing to explore San Blas with us! 🌴☀️💙
It was great! Beautiful, delicious food
Thank you for your great review! We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the delicious food, and overall had a great day in San Blas. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again for another unforgettable experience in Panama!
Worse tour I’ve ever been on. Transportation: you will be squeezed into an SUV like it or not. Ours had a cracked windshield, missing side panels, the AC didn’t work half the time and the driver as rude as hell. On the way back squeezed 6 of us and some poor soul had to ride for hours in the middle seat. Didn’t care about comfort. Absolutely a horrible experience to be stuck in the back third row seat for a total of 5 hours with a rude person. He clearly was pissed that he had to transport tourist around. Tour: poorly organized, I don’t care what system they have, it’s bad. Wait around until you gets assigned a boat. Then you visit 3 islands, all look the same, offer the same, no idea why not just drop you off at one and let you enjoy the day. One of them you get 30 minutes, you get off the boat only to hop back on. I hate to say it but the natives aren’t friendly. They don’t want you there, they just want your money. The Islands - calm waters, pretty but nothing to write home about. The facilities weren’t clean, bathrooms were dirty, they had trash around certain areas. Not impressed. Lunch was acceptable, but service was horrible Not even a smile, they don’t want you there, it’s really that simple. Overall a nightmare is how I would describe this tour. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and I absolutely wouldn’t return.
We’re sorry that one of the Caribbean’s most untouched destinations did not meet your expectations. Describing paradise islands in San Blas Islands as “all the same” perhaps says more about your mindset than the destination itself. San Blas is a remote indigenous territory, not a luxury resort complex. Travelers who expect polished infrastructure, private transfers, staged hospitality, and curated entertainment every minute are usually far happier at an all-inclusive resort. Fortunately, thousands of guests appreciate San Blas precisely for what it is: raw beauty, simplicity, calm waters, and authentic interaction with the Guna community.
Beautiful islands to see .a rewarding day with a good meal.We walked in a natural pool in the open sea.
Tiny, idyllic Caribbean islands covered in palm trees. Soft sandy beaches and colourful coral reefs. Excellent food. Absolute paradise!
That’s exactly the kind of experience San Blas is known for. Those tiny palm-covered islands, the soft sand, and the coral reefs really do feel like a postcard come to life. Add great food to that and it becomes a truly unforgettable day in paradise.
Okay, this is a long day but be prepared to visit paradise and an archipelago that genuinely 'rivals' the Maldives but is more remote and better for it. The early start is needed, it is an amazing and heart-stopping drive through the San Blas 'hills/rainforest' and be prepared for a delay at the check point. The islands are sensational, our trip was very well organised - again, be patient! This trip is worth every penny.
San Blas really does leave that kind of impression. The early start and the drive are all part of reaching such a remote place, and it’s great to hear you appreciated the journey as much as the destination. Patience definitely pays off out there. Glad it felt worth every penny!
This excursion was one of the highlights of our trip to Panama. While the drive to the Islands from the city is a bit lengthy, it's totally worth it! The islands and surrounding waters are beautiful. Don't forget your sunscreen, bug spray, and quarters for the bathroom!
Hi Brittnee, We’re thrilled to hear that this tour was one of the highlights of your Panama trip! The drive can be long, but it’s wonderful to know you felt it was worth it once you arrived. Thanks for sharing those handy reminders—sunscreen, bug spray, and quarters really do make the day more comfortable.
