Great experience with a great teacher! I really enjoyed learning about the history and culture of calligraphy in Japan. We got to pick a word and practice it! A great surprise was that our teacher wrote our name and picked the symbols giving our names meaning! Really fun. Plus they took so many pictures and sent them to me less than an hour later! I want to come back and do the tea ceremony next!
Thank you very much for your compliments!! This is your calligraphy teacher, Kaori. I was also surprised at your talent. You wrote very nice KANJI in calligraphy. And, your wrote the big performance Samurai Calligraphy was excellent. We hope you bring this experience to your country, and spread out to your countries kids. Of course, we’re always welcome your next visit!! See you, soon!!
Man, this was the best thing I've done in Osaka out of 6 visits to the city. The vibe of Samurai Honor is truly special—the word 空 is written on the wall, and the owner and the teacher really do a great job of living up to that ideal. I don't remember the last time I've been around other people for so long period of time without the silence getting weird or uncomfortable. It was just really natural, peaceful, and focusing...like all of the noise of the city was left at the door while I focused on each stroke. They're really great people, took lots of pictures, and gave me more than my fair of chances at practicing shodo!
Thank you! A death poem is the last words written before death. Calligraphy embodies the aesthetic sense of Japanese culture, but before experiencing samurai calligraphy, imagine yourself about to bid farewell to this world.
What an incredible and beautiful experience!! Highly recommended. Spend 1-2 hours learning the art and skill of Japanese calligraphy. It was lovely and like a meditation.
Thank you very much for this opportunity. We are glad you enjoyed traditional Japanese culture. We hope this will be a good opportunity for you to become more interested in it.
This one hour calligraphy experience was one of the highlights of our trip. We were not only introduced to this artistic and unique art form, but learned how to wear traditional kimono and hakama in an authentic environment. A must do when visiting Osaka.
Thank you for posting this nice review.
