Salt Lake City 1 Hour Haunted Walking Tour

Itinerary

10 min

The Frank E. Moss Federal Courthouse in Salt Lake City, completed in 1905, originally served as a post office and courthouse. The building is steeped in history, with tales of the stern Judge Ritter who presided there, and lingering ghostly presences that some say still echo through its halls, adding a chilling aura to this historic site.

10 min

The Holiday Inn Express in Salt Lake City, while presenting a welcoming facade, conceals a disturbing past that reflects some of Utah's darker history. Despite multiple remodels over the years, the hotel's history is marred by unsettling events, and rumors of paranormal activity have emerged, adding an eerie undertone to its otherwise inviting atmosphere.

10 min

Constructed in 1913 and originally known as The Orpheum Theater, the Capitol Theater was a vibrant venue for live vaudeville performances during the early 20th century. Today, it is renowned among paranormal enthusiasts for its haunting legends, particularly the ghost of Dickie Duffin, whose lingering presence adds an intriguing and eerie dimension to this historic theater.

10 min

The Walker Center in Salt Lake City, the last vestige of the Walker family's influential legacy, is a towering skyscraper with a storied past. Having served various functions—from a bank and radio transmitting station to a weather tower—its multifaceted history has given rise to ghostly legends and eerie occurrences, adding a mysterious allure to this architectural landmark.

10 min

The Judge Building in downtown Salt Lake City, once renowned for its intricate craftsmanship and architectural elegance, has shifted its reputation to a more somber note. Today, it is infamously associated with the tragic death of Steven Christensen, a high-profile case that has cast a shadow over the building, making it a focal point for those intrigued by its haunting history and the dark events that unfolded within its walls.

10 min

Whiskey Street in Salt Lake City, named for its historic abundance of taverns, saloons, and breweries from the late 1800s, reflects the vibrant, yet turbulent past of the area. Today, the Whiskey Street Cocktails & Dining venue honors this legacy but is also notorious as one of the most haunted buildings in downtown Salt Lake City, where patrons and staff frequently encounter eerie phenomena and ghostly presences linked to its storied past.

I loved it so much, 10/10, love the spooky moments 😍👻 Isabella did a great job, she's a good tour guide.

Such a great experience, 10/10! Great and messed up stories but that's how hauntings happen. Had a great time, I highly recommend it

Molly knows her stuff!

A ghost tour may not be the first activity that comes to mind when you visit Salt Lake City- I certainly wasn't expecting to find one when I was researching things to do near my hotel. So glad I found this one though! We had a great time with Molly- a fun storyteller with a lot of knowledge about the ghosts that haunt this city! We had the perfect sized tour group which gave us plenty of time to ask questions and we didn't feel like we were being rushed from one location to the next. At several locations we could sense the haunted energy immediately. I highly recommend booking this tour with Molly!

Spooky among the bright lights

Cody made the bitingly cold, snowy night an entertaining one. Most people choose this tour during October but December is better because of all the downtown Christmas lights!

Operator response

Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s great to hear Cody made the tour entertaining and that you enjoyed the downtown Christmas lights. We’ll happily pass your kind words along to him. We hope to welcome you back again!

Salt Lake City's Dark Side

We had a wonderful time with Devorah learning about Salt Lake City's creepy tales, including true crime, cults, and historical forgery. We learned about several beautiful historical buildings and their dark former inhabitants. I would recommend this tour for anyone who is visiting Salt Lake City and wants something that is *not* organized by any church. This tour would also be great for locals who would like to learn more about their city.

Operator response

Thanks so much for your recommendation! We’re happy you and your group had a fun and informative time with Devorah, discovering the hidden stories of Salt Lake City. We’ll pass along your compliments and hope to welcome you back soon!

Nice walking tour of downtown

It was a fun tour of downtown SLC. As long as you’re in it for the entertainment you should enjoy it. Our guide gave lots of personal antidotes and plenty of speculation.

Operator response

Underwhelmed

I was underwhelmed by the tour. I didn’t expect much in terms of ghost stories but the presentation lacked finesse and much thought. I felt like our guide had the opportunity to share some cool history about SLC at the very least but he seemed to fumble through the facts and be long winded. Also, some details of history were manipulated for the stories which maybe is to be expected from a tour like this? I’m not sure, but a quick internet search while on the tour had me fact checking him and wondering what else he was getting wrong. Also, it’s unfortunate that the homeless population impacted our experience - I was a little uneasy in certain areas where there was either a larger gathering of transients and/or they were interfering with the tour by mumbling, interrupting the guide, even following us for a bit, etc. I know this is out of the guides control but having a backup plan or providing some helpful tips to the guides when they experience these situations would be wise.

Operator response

Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear your experience didn’t meet expectations. We strive to provide engaging tours, and it’s clear we missed the mark in terms of both presentation and accuracy. Regarding the discomfort caused by the homeless population, we understand how that impacted your experience and will work on providing our guides with more guidance on handling such situations. Please reach out to guestrelations@tourismo.com with the name your booking was under, and we'll be happy to assist you further. We appreciate your feedback and hope to improve your experience in the future. Thank you again.
