Great sites, very overpriced tour, bad guide, non responsive tour operator

While the sites were very beautiful, I do not recommend doing the tour with this operator. Here is why: 1) we found out only in Uyuni that the tour would be operated by a different company than HanaqPacha. This was not communicated. 2) talking to other people in the car we found out we had been overcharged. They all paid less. On TripAdvisor it says this tour has "cheapest price guarantee" but that's a lie. You are better off booking in person in La Paz, or directly in Uyuni, either the day before or same day. DON'T BOOK ONLINE! 3) The guide was basically a driver. He drove well but gave virtually no information about the sites. He drove in silence for hours, dropped us off, said one sentence and then left us to wander on our own. 4) The driver forgot the boots: we got our shoes drenched 5) We did not see cactus island, even though it was advertised

Bolivia is amazing!!

We closed the itinerary for our trip to Bolivia with this company that embraced us… we chose several itineraries and were very welcomed. We did the Salar do Uyuni 3D/2N; Valle de las Animas; Copacabana 3D/2N and the City Tour with Cable Cars. The guides were extremely friendly and competent… we chose to do transfers from the airport to and from the arrival and return with them too. As I said, Hanacpacha welcomed us to Bolivia! I highly recommend it.

Beware of the 5,500m altitude on day 2!

Went on the 3-day Uyuni trip, which I was not aware reached extreme heights on day 2 (5,500m above sea level, sleeping at 4.650m) and therefore had to abort the trip after a day and pay for transport back to Uyuni. After raising this with HanaqPacha they agreed to partially refund me for expenses incurred and they have as a result updated the information on the tour to warn people about the increased risk of altitude sickness. If you’re concerned or still suffering from symptoms in La Paz, I would recommend doing the 1-day tour instead or acclimatising properly beforehand.

Operator response

Unfortunately altitude sickness is something that we cannot control, but I am happy that you are well and that everything worked out at the moment of arranging an emergency departure for you. Uyuni is already at over 4000 meters above sea level so it is expected for people to know this before going there, but as you requested we specified on our description that during the tour we reach over 5000 meters and people should be prepared in case they didn't do the due diligence research before going. Best regards
