This tour explores the very beginnings of Sacramento, from Sutter’s colony Nueva Helvecia to food tastings in current at hidden gems locals! You’ll learn about how the many diverse immigrant groups forged our great city and created its agricultural dominance as you eat, drink and stroll. Local Roots Food Tours limits the group size of each tour to no more than 14 individuals. Special dietary needs can be met with prior notice. This 3 hour tour takes place Monday through Friday. Though subject to change, typical tastings on this tour include: Croque Monsieur Sandwich, baked ham and gruyere cheese Chef selected artisan cured meats and cheeses Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Grilled Pork Spring Rolls Bahn mi chicken sandwich w/fresh veggie toppings Fresh roasted organic coffee w/unique blends

Nice tour of the immediate East Sacramento area with stops at a coffee shop, Vietnamese restaurant, bakery and a drink at Hawkes. Learned a lot about the food scene in Sacramento.

The tour was awesome, Dawnie was awesome, and the food was too! We had such a fun time trying all the food and seeing all the sights. My favorite part was when I said I had never tasted Persimmon and Dawnie said hold that thought. Later on, she took us to her coop and asked if we could try one. It was a wonderful morning spent with wonderful people! Thank you so much.

A small group of us planned to go on this tour together, and I am really glad we did! Dawnie was a knowledgeable guide, going out of her way to make sure we had an amazing experience. There were 4 different stops to try food, and we got to try a variety of different dishes she had selected - all were top notch. Dawnie shared history about the area, along with sharing stories and recommendations for the local food scene. This tour was definitely a great value, and unique way to learn about the area - definitely recommend!

There is no better way to get a feel for a city than a food walking tour and this tour was no exception. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and an absolute joy to spend time with. Dawnie was great. She tolerated our late arrival (blame Apple) and showed us around her neighborhood. She was gracious and informative. The food selections were so tasty and we (including the Sacramento. resident) learned a lot about the area. It was such a fun experience.
