After searching all over for a group to join this seems to be the only reasonable option aligned with my budget. Most safaris to Akagera looked affordable only to click and find out the price for one person at $500 and above. I don’t know booking a group tour how it would work if not enough people join. There was nowhere on Viator or TripAdvisor with this information. Luckily the Akagera Safari Team responded immediately after the booking with an email and WhatsApp messages with all the details about the tour that put my mind at ease. The safari itself was awesome, pick up was on time. I was swing on line with 3 pick-up spots and group of 4 which was perfect for our large 7 seat safari car. Emile the driver guide was very knowledgeable about the park and put in all the effort he could for us to see all the big 5. We even saw a leopard which he told us was rare but just shortly and it was back in the tall grass. While all other safari cars passed us by leaving the park, Emille asked us if we had any commitments in Kigali and if we don’t mind turning back as he had been informed by a member if their team that they had sighted a herd of elephants. We turned back and it was more than what I would have ever imagined. Countless elephants I would think more than a hundred. Emille our guide explained that it’s two herds one that mostly spend its time in the south and another in the north and once or twice a year they meet right at this spot where we were. I remember thinking ti myself in the Moring I wish I had brought a Pai of binoculars. The guide had two spare one but told me we wouldn’t need them which was true. All the sightings we really close, one elephant even got too close and its trunk hit the roof. Can’t thank the whole team enough for giving me a safari of my dreams without breaking the bank. Can’t recommend them enough to anyone travelling solo in Rwanda.
