Running of the Bulls - Hemingway: VIP Estafeta Balcony & Breakfast

Description
Step onto the same Estafeta Street, close to the balcony where Hemingway once watched the lockdown. From this balcony vantage point, experience every second of Pamplona's legendary Running of the Bulls — hooves on cobblestone, the roar of the crowd, white and red rushing past meters below you. Your morning starts at 6 : 50 AM with Esteban, your local host and lifelong San Fermin enthusiast. Over a traditional Navarra breakfast — coffe, artisan pastries, and regional produce — they’ll brief you on today’s bull breed, the runners’ tactics, and the unwritten rules only locals know. At 8:00 AM, the rocket fires. The bulls charge down Estafeta — the longest stretch of the course — while Esteban an Martin commentates live. After the run, stay for a celebratory toast as you relive the highlights with your group. This is’t a seat in the stands. It’s the closest you’ll get to the encierro without running it yourself. Itinerary
Meeting Point Meet Esteban and Martin in front of Hotel La Perla on Plaza del Castillo — the iconic hotel close to where Ernest Hemingway stayed during his visits to San Fermin. From here, we will walk you through the quiet early-morning streets of the Old Town to the balcony, setting the scene for what you’re about to witness.
Arrival at the Balcony Welcome to your private balcony overlooking the heart of the encierro route. As you settle in with your Navarra breakfast — hot coffe, freshly baked pastries, juice, and local produce — Martin and Esteban begin the pre-lockdown briefing. He'll tell you about today's bull breed and their reputation, explain the meaning behind the two rockets, describe the strategies the most experienced runners use, and share insider details about this particular stretch of Estafeta.
The Encierro The first rocket fires. The corral gates open. Within seconds, six fighting bulls and their accompanying steers charge down the cobblestone streets toward the bullring. From your balcony, you'll see the runners positioning themselves, the crowd's energy exploding, and the herd thundering past just meters below. Martin and Esteban provides live commentary — pointing out key moments, explaining what’s happening in real time, and helping you catch every detail of this 2 - to - 4 - minute spectacle.
Post-lockdown Debrief The bulls have passed, but the experience isn't over. Share a celebratory toast with your fellow guests as you watch the TV replay together and relive the highlights. Martín and Esteban answers your questions, shares his personal stories from years of San Fermín, and offers insider recommendations for the rest of your day in Pamplona — the best pintxo bars, the afternoon bullfight, and the hidden corners of the festival most tourists never find.

Find another tour company for this activity.. I always have good experience with Viator but this group sucks. The tour guide Marc ? He didn’t introduce himself, wasn’t organized nor engaging. Only one other gentleman was talking to us and very accommodating. I didn’t even know that breakfast was already served until I noticed some people are already have food with them. No instructions on the activities or flow of the activities. He only talk to individuals but not addressing the group about safety, logistics or activity flow. Safety because they were children in the group. The facility was adequate but the personnel (except one gentleman ) was very unprofessional. Needs training in costumer service. Breakfast was also lame for the price we paid for the experience. Richard Arroyo
Dear Richard/Janice, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We want to clarify a few points, as some details in your review don't match our experience — we don't have anyone named Marc on our team, and safety and logistics were explained to the group from the very beginning, as they always are. There is no safety risk involved in this activity. This experience is designed to be flexible: guests are welcome to enjoy it at their own pace or engage with our team to learn more about the running of the bulls — its rules, strategy, and history — as well as get local recommendations on restaurants and things to do in Pamplona. We'd appreciate the chance to speak with you directly to better understand your experience. Please feel free to reach out to us. Bests,
Exceeded our high expectations! What a well hosted experience. Esteban and his team did an outstanding job hosting our family and other visitors in their beautiful flat with a prime balcony right on Estafeta (the best avenue because it’s long and straight), including a great view of the infamous curve. We were only on the second floor, which meant a more intimate view, compared to higher floors. The TV was playing news of the event so we could see and hear commentary of what was happening leading up to the bulls turning the corner onto Estafeta. The flat is beautiful - authentic old beams and nicely appointed furniture to sit when not standing on the balcony. The breakfast was a nice light fare and the coffee was the best cup I’ve had in Spain on this trip and I’ve had good coffee in Spain. Lastly, Esteban had great information not only about the running of the bulls, but wonderful recommendations for restaurants. We highly recommend this experience!
Thank you so much for this wonderful review, Jenny! Hosting your family was truly a pleasure — you were warm, easygoing, and a joy to have as guests. It would be an honor to welcome such an incredible family back again.
Great view from the balcony of a nice apartment, Hosts were friendly and provided great information.
