Operated by The Original Aurora Hunters®, Arctic GM is a family-run company with roots in Lapland dating back to the 1600s, combining local knowledge with a focus on small-group guided hiking. After pickup, you will travel to Korouoma Nature Reserve, located away from busy tourist areas. The hike takes you through forest trails and along the canyon floor, where frozen waterfalls form during winter conditions. The pace is moderate, with time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and learn about the area’s geology and nature. During the hike, you will stop to enjoy a traditional Lapland barbecue with hot drinks in a peaceful outdoor setting.

Itinerary
Begin your experience with pickup in Rovaniemi and transfer to Korouoma Nature Reserve, located approximately 1.5 hours from the city. On arrival, you will start a guided hike through forest trails leading into the canyon area. The route passes through varied terrain, including woodland paths and sections along the canyon floor. During the hike, you will visit areas where frozen waterfalls and ice formations develop during winter. The exact route is chosen by your guide based on current conditions. The walk is at a moderate and steady pace, with regular stops to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and rest. Midway through the hike, you will stop at a designated fire site to enjoy a traditional Lapland barbecue with hot drinks. After completing the hike, return transfer to Rovaniemi. Total duration is approximately 6–7 hours.

The frozen water tour in Rovaniemi was an amazing winter wonderland experience. Walking across the frozen landscape felt magical, and the barbecue in the snow made the whole trip even more special. A simple, beautiful, and unforgettable adventure.
I had an incredible time! The guide and driver, Victor, truly went above and beyond to ensure everyone was safe and happy. Because the snow was melting a little, some parts of the hike were rather slippery, but Victor was very patient – he waited for everyone and offered help whenever it was needed. He was also a fantastic photographer, even lying down in the snow to get the best angles for our photos. Aside from the stunning views (the frozen waterfalls and the red river – just wow!), I learnt quite a bit about the geological formations and the flora and fauna around the canyon. And during the hike, Victor and our group picked up loose studs that had fallen off other hikers’ traction cleats. It felt so good to help preserve the environment, even in small ways! To top it all off, the BBQ was a nice touch. It was simple but cosy, set in a beautiful spot, and provided warming food after the hike. Highly recommend this tour and Victor to anyone visiting Rovaniemi!

Our day tour to Korouoma was beyond amazing! Our guide Natalia was outstanding leader and organiser. She kept the spirit of the group so high, she was smiling and welcoming us all. She gave us confidence and was unstoppable and full of energy I love every minute of this tour. Would repeat over and over again
We went to Frozen Falls with William and honestly, it was above all expectations. He shared a lot of interesting information about the area, which made the whole experience even better. He was super helpful on the tricky icy paths, and you can really see he cares about what he does. The waterfalls are incredible—definitely a unique adventure.

We had a fantastic day. The hike was so beautiful and well suited for us as beginners with medium fitness levels. The frozen waterfalls are very impressive. Our guide Bruno showed us some vantage points that we would not have found on our own and gave us a lot of knowledge. Vegan sausages were also organised on request for the barbecue.
