This is my second year going birdwatching with Joel. He a genuinely nice person to spend time with. His knowledge of the island and of the birding spots is unsurpassed. We found some old friends and some new ones together. Will certainly be contacting him again next year when I am on Roatan.
Joel was such a wonderful host and tour guide. I highly recommend booking him if you want a personalized birding experience. We booked a half day trip and definitely got our moneys worth. Joel was highly responsive to our requests and delivered on showing us what we wanted to see including hummingbirds, macaws, parrots, songbirds, and many seabirds. We even saw a cuckoo, tanager, and vireos. My fiancé and I loved seeing the birds, learning about the island, and seeing off the beaten path local spots. Joel really knows his stuff and where to find the birds. He was such a kind human who is passionate about nature, wildlife, photography, and the island.Definitely book this experience.
Joel gave us a day to remember. We’re new birders and he took us to multiple spots and we saw countless birds, endemic and migratory, as well as animals and learned about many of the endemic trees. He is so knowledgeable and can spot and put you onto the birds with ease. He also showed us how to set up our E-bird account through the app at Cornel University so we can keep track of the birds we’ve seen (when and where). Thank you, Joel for a day we will cherish. R & B.
We've done quite a few birding and nature walks around the world and Joel was among our favorites. He knows all the good spots and gives patient, clear location descriptions. I sometimes have a hard time spotting birds because I have monovision but Joel always made it happen. He is one of the clearest "direction-givers" we've had. He was pleasant, skilled, patient and had a good sense of humor. He knows all the best spots like the back of his hand. Highly recommend!
We did a half day tour with Joel. He is extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife, especially the birds. Excellent tour. He was extremely helpful finding and getting us on the birds. Also helpful with my handicapped husband. I highly recommend
Joel is a passionate birder. Forty species for the day which included four lifers for yours truly. Our party of four included two novices and Joel got them on birds as well in addition to catering to the life-lister. Reptiles and trees were also on the list. My SIL had a blast trying various wild tropical fruits. We were on a cruise ship; pick up and drop off were right at the port. Ignore all the commercial tours of pseudo nature tours and do a real one! Make SURE you go to lunch with Joel! He knows a shack on the water that serves lionfish (an invasive species so good to eat as many as you can) combined with a hummingbird ballet. Highly recommended!
