Malia was an excellent tour guide! She was funny, kind and super informative!
Dynamic Tours are wonderful, professional, family friendly, and worth every penny. John, our tour guide was amazing! Family of 6 had the best time. Road to Hana with Dynamic tour is the can’t miss experience when visiting Maui. Lifetime memories!!
I read a lot of reviews before choosing which tour guide. Our day was amazing! Our guide was Apanui, he was great! I’m just going to comment on my opinion of prior reviews. Yes it is a long day! Take snacks and water shoes! The continental breakfast was lots of fruit and muffins, in a beautiful location. For lunch, the huli huli chicken, we thought was great! Views are indescribable and so many waterfalls.
This was my second "Road to Hana" tour. I won't review the places the tour stopped at or visited. I will review the tour company and the services. Pickup was on time although they text us that morning saying the pickup would be 5-10 minutes early. While I appreciated the company’s responsiveness in honoring my special seating request, our front (first) row seats on the bus labeled "Alaka'i" had a very narrow windows that required us to strain our necks to see the views outside. I noticed that the other three Valley Isle buses on tours that day did not appear to have this issue. I provided the company feedback regarding this seating issue but have not yet received a response from the company. In our humble opinion, these seats should not be sold. My advice: to avoid the kind of disappointment we experienced, you should always ask for seat reservations and note clearly and specifically to the company that you do not want the first row seats on a bus with seating configuration like Alaka'i's. If you don't and you are picked up last, you will risk getting stuck in these seats from sunrise to sundown. Regarding the amenities, the breakfast was underwhelming, consisting only of a pre-arranged plate of a few pieces of fruit and 2 small muffins. The driver did remind us this was going to be a continental breakfast. There are many versions of continental breakfast but this one truly disappoints. Additionally, the lunch provided, though delicious, was not from the "world-famous" Huli Huli chicken location as the guide led everyone to believe; instead, the guide brought pre-packaged boxes of food from another source. (Please see similar experience from earlier reviews.) My advice: feed yourself before they pick you up or bring something more fulfilling to eat on the bus between breakfast and lunch. Finally, while our driver was incredibly knowledgeable about Maui’s culture and history, his demeanor was sometimes overbearing. He frequently called out guests for yawning or dozing off and insisted on undivided attention during his occasional politically biased historical recount. All this made part of the tour experience feel more like a classroom than a tour. He also ridiculed all the not-so-nice reviews he has received. He will probably tell you about this one, too. So buyers beware: your Valley Isle guide could be a bit too much fun for you. :-)
Driver was very knowledgeable.
I traveled alone to Hawaii to celebrate my birthday. On the day of the tour, I felt nervous, but then the most adventurous guide arrived for me. Travis was an excellent guide, very attentive, and shared a lot of the history of Hawaii and native words. He made the tour very light, and had us sing "Waterfalls" every time one appeared on the way. He warned us that he would not stop talking the entire way, and he kept his word. I loved him. He gave us tips to make the most of the stops. The breakfast was delicious at a super nice place. We tried Huli Huli Chicken, it was my favorite food during all my vacation 🤤 You will appreciate the most beautiful landscapes of the Island of Maui. I loved this tour! Mahalo! 🤙🏻💚
MY wife and I took the Road to Hana tour, and had a very nice time. It is a very narrow, windy, twisty road, but the drive was very good. There were plenty of stops along the way to buy food, souvenirs, look at waterfalls, and to go to the bathroom. The bus is air conditioned and comfortable. My only objection was that the told us that they would pick us up at our hotel, but then notified us that we would have to meet them at another location, instead. It was not a long walk, but if you make a commitment, you should keep it. The food they provided was OK. The driver was a nice fellow, informative and kind.
This was the best tour and if you are visiting Maui, it is a must see. Kawika was our driver and an excellent host for the day! Booking was easy, we received a call the day before to confirm our plan to attend. The bus picked us up at our hotel and arrived early (we were the first stop). The bus was clean and comfortable and beverages were available throughout the trip. We had several bathroom stops and Kawika had everything we needed to accommodate our needs for those stops. We made several stops to see the scenic sites along the way. Kawika was an excellent driver and our safety was his primary concern - which was very important for me given my whole family was on the bus with me. It rained throughout the trip but that did not interfere with Kawika's safe driving or our ability to enjoy the tour. It is beautiful, so many different plants, flowers, and waterfalls!!!!! My favorite was the rainbow eucalyptus trees!!!! It is all fascinating and a beauty to behold! Kawika shared many insights about the island and Hana as he drove along the way. My other favorite part was the turtles on the beach that we saw at the end of the tour! Breakfast and lunch was good and the banana bread (warm with whipped butter) was AWESOME!!! Thank you Kawika for a wonderful Hana experience! My family and I will remember you and this Hana experience forever!!!!
We had an absolutely amazing Road to Hana experience and a huge part of that was thanks to our driver and guide, Aukai. He was friendly, knowledgeable, funny and made the whole day feel relaxed and effortless while navigating the winding roads safely. From swimming at waterfalls and seeing the incredible rainbow eucalyptus trees, to black sand beaches, turtles, stunning scenery and the famous Aunt Sandy’s banana bread — every stop felt special. Aukai shared so much local knowledge along the way and truly made the tour memorable. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Maui — an unforgettable day from start to finish! The only thing missing was a stop in Hana Town itself it was a shame we did not get the chance to experience this and take photos to add to our memories
Travis was a great guide and made the tour fun, interesting and safe! We were thankful to have him as our driver on this long journey. We made many fun stops along the way.
