Rio Celeste out of La Fortuna, couldn’t find a tour with this name. I figure this is close enough. Our guide was Diego and out Driver Pedro. Both were amazing looking along the way for things for us to stop and look at. Along the trail we were able to spot several creatures and Diego was kind enough to help us get photos along the way. On our way back from the tour we stopped to see our first toucans and white faced monkeys. Diego got in the back seat and took photos from the car window due to the rain. They really did go above and beyond. Lunch was at an amazing restaurant, food and service was great. Overall would recommend. Will book through JNT again in the further. Hopefully Diego and Pedro will still be there.
We booked this trip through our travel rep at our hotel (CC Papagayo) (Oscar)Be careful when and how you book as trips have similar names and itineraries but can differ greatly. Our host on this approx 5 hour trip was Christian. This guy was clearly very educated on the rain forest and everything about the plants and animals. The trip started with a 1.5 hour hike through the rain forest to the waterfall. This is a relatively challenging hike including 264 steps down to the bottom of the waterfall. Of course this means 264 steps back to the trail. Our guide spent a lot of time pointing out various plants, snakes, birds, etc One word of caution, when they say Rain, they mean constant, heavy rain, be prepared. After the waterfall we went to and animal reserve, which was less exciting. One thing to be aware of is that the animals ( ie sloths) are not there to entertain you and are difficult and on some day’s impossible to find. There is no guarantee that you are going to see the friendly smiling animals shown on the sign, pamphlets and buses. We also enjoyed a meal at the reserve before heading back to the hotel. The highlight was definitely the knowledge shared by Christian during our hikes. We did two tours with Jacamar Tours and both were very good. Friendly knowledgeable guides and very comfortable transportation Tom and Jennifer
Great day in Nature with Gabriel our tour guide and Adrian drubbing making sure we arrived safe. Aside from the beautiful scenery, Gabriel is a wealth of knowledge and we learned more the the 2hour drive than what we googled in the last 2 months. The team was super helpful and always attending to anything we needed. Excellent work Jacomar!!!
We spent the day walking through the Tenorio Volcano National Park and the hanging bridges at the Heliconias Lodge’s hanging bridges. We were driven around by Pedro and guided by Stephenson. The pair made our day most enjoyable. They both shared their knowledge about their country, the areas we visited, and the wildlife we saw. Their love and passion for their country and work were evident with the care they took in making sure we learned and enjoyed every minute. Jim & Rose, Canada
My wife and I were staying at Tabacon and decided to do the hike to see Rio Celeste because of pictures we had seen of it online beforehand. The water was truly remarkable and unlike anything I had seen before. When we would mention our trip to Rio Celeste to locals, many listed it as a bucket list item they have always hoped to have the opportunity to see. It was wild to see where the water turns colors from a normal river into a magical blue color! While the setting was great, by far the best part of our tour was our guide, Hugo. It was just my wife and I on the tour, so we had the opportunity to have some great conversations with him throughout the day. In addition to being very knowledgeable, he was a great question asker and made us both feel like we were more than just a couple of tourists to him. Over lunch, Hugo even gave us a Spanish lesson to help us with typical sayings that would be helpful for us to know while in Costa Rica - he and I have stayed in contact via email since my return home and he has continued to be helpful to me as I have continued learning Spanish since the trip.
