Very kind people. Robert was a great help. Very understanding about us not feeling comfortable with the weather. Made alternative arrangements.
Do it!! The river and the landscape are beautiful. I was lucky enough for a small group of wild horses (5) to cross the river in front of me. Just Beautiful!! They were in bothered by the presence of anyone on the water. The river itself is very clean and shallow for most of the float down. And by shallow, I mean anywhere from ankle to hip deep. And the current was very mild allowing you to just drift for long sections. The only tricky part is that the company is about 25 mins from the river which means they will not pick you up when you're done paddling. If you have only one rental car, like me, they will give you a backpack carrier bag for you to fit the deflated paddle board. And then you Uber it back to your starting point along the river. I was intimidated but this, but when it was all said and done, I wanted to book another rental for the next day! Travel plans prevented it. But otherwise, this is a must do in Phoenix. And no bathing suit required.
We had a great experience overall, even though there was a bit of unexpected confusion at the start. There was a disconnect between the third-party booking service and the company we went through—shuttle service is not provided, so you’ll need to plan ahead with a rental car or arrange a ride (like Uber) if you’re coming from out of town. We originally expected to be able to drop our car off at one end and get shuttled back after the float, but that wasn’t the case. That said, everything still worked out just fine. We used our rental car to get there, and there were plenty of friendly people around, so hitching a ride back was not difficult. The staff member at the shop was very helpful and kind. He provided us with good-quality equipment, a map, and all the supplies we needed, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable. The float itself was amazing! We started at Sheep’s Crossing and ended at Phon D. Sutton, which took about 2.5 hours. The route was beautiful, full of wildlife, and felt completely safe. My 10-year-old son even did the entire float on his own board and absolutely loved it. One highlight was seeing the wild horses along the Salt River—they were beautiful and incredible to watch (just be sure to keep a safe distance). We later learned that there are efforts to remove these horses, which is really disappointing. If you’re local to Arizona, it’s definitely worth looking into ways to help protect them and keep them in their natural habitat. Overall, despite the initial miscommunication about transportation, this was a fun, memorable experience with great scenery and friendly people. We would definitely recommend it—just be sure to plan your transportation ahead of time!
These guys are great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. They let us pick up the gear whenever we wanted and helped us load it all up. It was just as easy for us to load it on the way back. We had a great time. The river was running low so we went to the lake and had a fantastic time.
It was amazing! I feel so bad I don't remember the employees name... possibly Matt. He was wonderful at explaining which craft we should use, the equipment we be using, where to enter, the how- to's of unloading and loading the craft. He offered a map of the lake and river with entry points, picnic areas and roadways. It was overall a very memorable and fun experience! Would like to do again and recommend their services.
Robert was awesome! He explained everything and helped us out a lot. He helped put the kayaks on the roof and showed us how to put them on/take them off. He gave a detailed map and was super understanding. The kayaks were inflatable and were easy to navigate. Im nowhere near experienced and I had an absolute blast! Can't beat the views and I can't wait to be back already!
Thanks for the awesome review and for taking the time to share your experience with us.
Robert was extremely helpful and gave us excellent tips and recommended places to go! He showed us how to transport the paddle boards and it couldn’t have been easier! 10/10 would use Lower Salt Rentals again!
We absolutely love to hear we are giving 10/10 service. We are grinning from ear to ear like you probably were on the River. Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. Paddle On!
