Fantastic Family Adventure on the Water We booked a rafting trip with Glacier Raft Company for a family outing — my wife, our two kids, and myself. My wife was a little nervous beforehand, but the whole team was so warm and friendly that she felt comfortable right away. Our guide, Nick, was brilliant. He was clearly experienced, kept us all safe, and made sure the whole family had an amazing time on the river. It was the perfect mix of excitement and reassurance. If you’re after a fun, memorable day on the water — especially with family — I’d highly recommend Glacier Raft Company. We’ll definitely be back!
The rafting experience is really great, two options are available, one for families, more calm and focused on seightseeing, and one more advanced and extreme, but still managable for beginners. The view is amazing, the team is really competent, helpful and fun (Jess is still the best but others are great too). Break for BBQ lunch was really nice. Would 100% recommend
What a fantastic experience on a beautiful day on the Kicking Horse River. The whole team of leaders were great and Austin who lead our raft was brilliant, kept it fun, made sure everyone got wet and experienced the best of the rapids whilst keeping us safe. First time rafting and it couldn’t have been better. The morning was a gentler family session followed by a grilled lunch which gave us plenty time to chat to other rafters. The afternoon kept it interesting with grade 3 & 4 rapids throughout. Austin really kept his instructions clear and kept the chat about our surroundings coming in the quieter spells. We also got the chance to jump in and take a swim in the 5deg Celsius water! Altogether as a family we had a brilliant time.
Thank you for your review! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your first rafting experience. We'll also be sure to pass along your kind words to Austin. We hope to welcome you and your family back for another rafting adventure in the future! Cheers from the Glacier crew!
Fabulous rafting day (we booked the full day and definitely recommend this to enjoy the best of the rapids). Really fun experience; excellent, witty, friendly and clearly very experienced guides - they were all amazing but particular shout out to our personal guide Nico for getting us down the river with such pizazz! Great instruction; beautiful scenery; lovely lunch spot; we would come again. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your time rafting with us. We'll be sure to pass along your shoutout to Nico. We hope to see you rafting again soon! Cheers from the Glacier team!
We have rafted all over N. America. This operation was better ran than most places we have experienced. Check-in was smooth. Safety instructions were sufficient. Bus to River was better than expected. Wetsuits, booties and jackets all did their job. We did the middle section of the Kicking Horse which was a fun paddle and lived up to the billing as one of Canada’s most exciting rivers for rafting. Guides were all very professional. Our boat leader, Nick, did a great job!
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review! We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to Nick, he'll be happy to hear he helped make your trip memorable. We hope to see you again soon! Cheers from the Glacier crew!
We chose the Family Adventure trip on the Kicking Horse River because one of our children has not yet reached the 90-pound minimum for some of the more advanced rafting options. For what it is—a trip geared toward younger families—it was enjoyable, but it left all of us wanting much more, including our 81-pound daughter. Our guide, Carlos, was excellent and a real highlight of the experience. He was friendly, engaging, and helped make the trip enjoyable. The biggest disappointment was the amount of time actually spent on the water. The rafting portion lasted only about 30–45 minutes before we stopped for lunch at a picnic pavilion, which marked the end of the trip. The lunch was also underwhelming. It included a burger, sandwich, or hot dog, coleslaw, a small brownie, and a drink. The advertised salads, chips, and granola bars were not available, and the only condiments offered were ketchup and pickles. By the time we left, our entire family was still hungry and wishing for both more adventure and more food. Families with younger children may still enjoy the experience, but those looking for a longer rafting trip or a more substantial meal may find it falls short of expectations.
Hello Shane, Firstly thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback on your Family Adventure Tour. Due to safety standards that are followed river wide by all the companies that raft this section of the Kicking Horse we do have a strict policy of adhering to the 90LB weight minimum for the rafters safety. Life jackets that are the standard in BC for the class 3 and 4 rapids have this weight limit that is why we cannot make exceptions. Unfortunately when it comes to time on the river when it is a higher water day, which after looking into your booking, it was, the river moves faster and there is not much we can do to keep you on the water for longer. We are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your Riverside BBQ Lunch, if you wanted to reach out to our email trips@glacierraft.com and let us know where you saw these advertisements for things we do not provide, and we can ensure that everything matches what is provided. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with Carlos, we are lucky to have such great guides on our team. Thank you for joining us and again thank you for your feedback. Glacier Staff
This was my third time rafting with Glacier Raft Company and they never disappoint. The guides are always so fun, knowledgeable, and make you feel safe. It also is reassuring when you see a lot of the same guides over the last few years! This company is awesome, their equipment and gear is organized and in good shape, and the river is spectacular. The photo package is always worth it as well. This trip never disappoints!
Thank you for joining us again and for taking the time to share such a wonderful review! We truly appreciate your continued support and look forward to welcoming you back for your fourth adventure on the river! Cheers from the Glacier crew!
We did the full-day rafting trip and it was hands-down one of the highlights of our entire vacation. From the moment we arrived, the little details set the tone: hot coffee waiting for everyone before we even got on the water, a really thoughtful touch on a cool morning. Our guide, Austin ("the Professor"), was outstanding — patient, easygoing, and clearly knew the river inside and out. What stood out even more was the experience across the whole guide team. Talking with them, you quickly realize they've each guided in different places around the world, and that depth of knowledge really showed. It made us feel completely comfortable on the water, even once things got intense. The day itself was perfectly structured. The first stretch was relaxed and fun, a great way to get comfortable handling the raft. After a great lunch, the second half ramped up into genuinely intense rapids — the kind of high-adventure thrill we'd hoped for. Totally worth it. One more thing that really set this trip apart: the photography. They have a professional photographer on the river the entire time, plus GoPros and drones, capturing the whole adventure from start to finish. The photo and video package was very reasonably priced for what you get, and well worth adding on. We capped off the day with cold drinks for the whole group, sitting together watching back the footage — a perfect way to end an unforgettable day. Highly recommend this company for anyone considering a rafting trip. Guides, rapids, food, photography, all of it was excellent.
Thank you for such an incredible review! We're honoured that your rafting trip was one of the highlights of your vacation. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to Austin, he'll be stoked to hear he made such a good impression. We're also glad to hear you enjoyed the media package! We hope to see you on the river again soon. Cheers from the Glacier crew!
From booking, to checking in, to getting geared up and on the river…then the complimentary beverage at the end of our trip, this company created an amazing experience! I highly recommend this outfitter! All of the guides were great and everyone had a blast. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
