Visit To The Viewpoint Of Quilotoa: Hike And Visit To The Quilotoa Lagoon: The crater of the dormant volcano forms a bowl that collects the azure waters of the lagoon. Its color is due to the accumulation of sulfur. According to legend, this was the scene of the battle between the Quilotoa gods who lived on the surface and Toachi, who was under the lake, because that aroused envy the ability of the first to reflect the color of the sky. Visit To The Artisan Workshop In The Community Of Tigua: Color is the protagonist of the stories that narrate the crafts of Tigua, works that are manufactured by the community of the same name. These paintings bear geometric and figurative forms, typical of the pre-Columbian and colonial times respectively. The traces expose the passage of time, which is an important element of the Andean worldview. Most are masks made of pine wood and paintings created on sheep skin, which tell experiences of everyday life.

This was a very full day trip with a long drive. Our guide Carlos seemed to be on a mission to get it completed as soon as possible. On the bus there was no stopping to take photos of the views. The 2 places we did stop, an indigenous home and an art gallery where not that interesting and Carlos made no attempt to explain these stops. At Quilotoa lake he left the group well behind on the way down. He did however remain with the back walkers on the way up. After the lunch it was then a speedy drive back into Quito.
I love this tour, we have different stops to enjoy and experience the view. The hike is nice and There were few people even of it’s was Saturday. Our guide is Erica and she is very knowledgeable. She shared a lot of fun facts and history of Ecuador including a song about Ecuador and the Amazon. She also recommended great restaurant to eat dinner. I highly recommended this tour
This was a great day! Our tour guide was Pam, she was very helpful and informative. We enjoyed the drive up the mountain which included seeing over 50 dogs on the way! A very well planned and well executed tour. I would definitely recommend if you’re in Quito. The hike is a bit rough but the mules that can take you back up the mountain are worth the extra price.
our guide was amazing!! i learned so much the entire day. i would strongly recommend this day tour!!
Enjoyable day. Tour guide arrived in time to pick us up and made sure we had everything we needed during the day. The walk into the crater was beautiful but if you're older, you'll need to take your time and watch your footing. Hiking sticks helped. Unless you are in peak condition, be sure to reserve a horse for the ride up. Even the 20 something's were breathing hard and resting a lot. I would definitely recommend this tour. Great company and very organized.
I had originally booked two tours with the company, but I had such a great time that I added a new one. The tour to Quilotoa was great. Very complete and well organized. Very good communication prior to departure. I also forgot my sunglasses in the van and the next day they took them to the reception of the hostel. Jess, the guide, was fantastic. Thanks Mauricio too (he found my glasses)! Beautiful landscapes and I had the opportunity to get on a mule to avoid the steep climb to Quilotoa.
My family and I had a fantastic day with visiting Quilotoa on a private tour. Our tour guide Ernesto picked us up promptly at 9 am in a very comfortable SUV. During our drive to Quilotoa, he shared his vast knowledge of Ecuadorian geography, history and culture, pointing out mountain ranges, telling us Ecuadoran folktales, answering our questions about politics and economics, and leaving us with a much better understanding of his beautiful country. He introduced us to Julian and his family, who are local Ecuadorians farmers living in a traditional thatched roofed home, and to a local Ecuadoran artist who paints colorful, fanciful landscapes. When we arrived at Quilotoa, Ernesto offered us two different two-hour hikes, one down to the lake, the other around the crater. We chose the latter hike, which because of unusually strong winds was modestly challenging, but also spectacular. The views of the lake from the rim were truly breathtaking. After the hike we enjoyed a delicious meal at a local restaurant that Ernesto recommended. A truly memorable day in Ecuador, with much thanks to Ernesto.
Jenny was an awesome tour guide, she was very well spoken and explained everything. My boyfriend and I had so much fun. I would highly recommend this tour with Jenny
We toured Quilotoa with Best Trip Ecuador and it was an excellent decision. The place is beautiful, the tour full of beautiful landscapes and a pleasant visit to the house of Don Julian, however the best thing about this tour was our guide IRENE who with his charisma and personality demonstrates passion and love for his country and for his work. Irene explains every detail with patience and dedication, I recommend this tour 100%.
Excellent trip to Quilotoa, Excellent guides Carlos and Jessie. Even though we were running late coming back, it was no bother for them to stop so we could see the ash coming from Cotopaxi volcano. Great value tour, thoroughly recommend
