Paseo de la Dona Blanca is commonly referred to as Pink Street because of its intense color. The place commemorates the oldest hotel in Puerto Plata, founded in the 19th century by an Italian woman named Dona Bianca. Recently, it's a recognized photo spot and an absolute must see in Puerto Plata :)

10 min

Explore the picturesque Malecon waterfront boulevard during a panoramic drive. See the city's beaches, charming pier, colorful fishing boats. Admire the city's art: murals depicting symbols of Puerto Plata and the Dominican Republic, and a statue of Neptune, the god of the sea, standing on a rock amidst the ocean waves.

Umbrella Street has become one of Puerto Plata's biggest attractions. In addition to a great outdoor area for photos, it offers souvenir and jewelry stores with amber and larimar, a cigar manufactory, a café and typical Dominican street food.

60 min

See the emblematic Christ the Redeemer statue on Mount Isabella, take souvenir photos with this symbol of Puerto Plata, and then explore the astonishing botanical garden. Immerse yourself in the lush exotic nature full of tropical trees, vines, lianas, ferns and flowers. Meet the park's inhabitants: birds, lizards, koi carp and turtles. At the open-air museum, check out Dominican cuisine and typical crops: cacao, coffee, banana trees and more.

30 min

Explore Puerto Plata's historic center - the main square, surrounded by colorful colonial houses. Experience what is typical of the city's Victorian style in architecture. There will be free time here to take photos, shop for souvenirs, and sample artisanal ice cream, Dominican coffee or fresh coconut water.

Discover, among other things, what white chocolate is made from, what cocoa tea is, and check out the traditional cocoa balls used to be made in homes.

Puerto Plata is one of the oldest European cities in the New World, and owes its existence to a harbor bay discovered by Christopher Columbus himself. Feel the adrenaline rush as you climb through the rainforest, to end up on the altitude of almost 800 meters (2,500 feet)! DR vacay & tour experience

We booked a private tour through Viator, and Antonio was our tour guide. We started with heading up to Mount Isabel. We thought Antonio was driving us up the mountain. However, we rode in an open air truck up the mountain. The truck engine struggled all the way up, but we made it. The city tour was fun and interesting. Got to sample Mama Juana, coffee, hot chocolate and rum. The cigar history tour was fascinating as well. Overall, it was a good tour experience with Antonio. I would come back and do it again. 👏👏👏

Amazing, Wonderful, Knowledgable and Fun

Diana was not only knowledgeable, but also incredibly kind and clearly very experienced as a tour guide. Everything ran smoothly, and we always felt well taken care of throughout the day. What made the experience even more special was the group we were with. Everyone was so friendly and fun, and the entire day was filled with laughter, learning, and enjoying great food together. Overall, we had an absolutely fabulous time. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Puerto Plata—it was the perfect mix of culture, history, and unforgettable moments.

Fun Tour of Puerta Plata

We had a fun day with Marcelaius and Tommy during our excursion in Puerta Plata. We visited the rum factory, Mt Isabel, toured the city center area (including umbrella and pink streets), and had a wonderful lunch. I would recommend two things when booking with Rothis Tours: 1) e-mail / call ahead to confirm the meeting time and pick up point if you're stopping as part of a cruise (there was some confusion internally with our reservation which caused a bit of stress at the start of our day - Marcelaius to the rescue!) and 2) if you book a private tour, ensure that you communicate clearly with your guide as to the places you really want to see (we missed the chocolate factory due to our later start time, extra time we spent waiting to be driven up to Mt Isabel, and a mechanical issue that was clearly outside of our control). Please note that visiting Mt Isabel may take some extra time when the cable car is out of operation. It is well worth the time to go up the mountain for a visit, though!

Best excursion ever!!

Antonio was amazing! He customized our tour to not only cover what was advertised, but managed to squeeze in a couple of extra stops for us. Lunch was excellent, and he brought fresh avocados to share with us, in addition to the delicious meal prepared by the restaurant. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Dominican Republic, and each of the stops we made, and he also made the day so much fun!! It was the highlight of our entire cruise!!

Great tour with Carlos

This was a great experience. Our travel guide was very nice and polite. Ask for Carlos Perez if you are doing this tour. He wasn’t just a tour guide, it was like going on a tour with a friend who knew the history of the island. I will be doing this tour again when I come back with other friends.
