Description

We will visit the pink street, a walk in the parasol street, a cigar factory to see how the cigars are made, the museum of amber and barley. The central park surrounded by the old Victorian houses, the cathedral San Felipe with its beautiful architecture. we will stop at the sea wall to appreciate the beautiful view of the Atlantic sea where the rock of Neptune is. Its foundation dates from 1502, but due to the fire caused by the restorers in 1863 it was completely destroyed. And it wasn’t until 1956 that it was completely restored, although in 2008 it was remodeled. The cathedral has great religious value for Dominicans and is one of the most important pilgrimage points in the whole Dominican Republic.
Its history dates back to 1898 when Isidoro Rainieri and Bianca Franceschini, natives of Italy, arrived in Puerto Plata and realizing that a hotel was needed to serve travelers decided to found the Lodging of Commerce, to which they later changed the name to Hotel Europa.

The seawall is one of the recreational areas of Puerto Plata where you will see beautiful cultural murals in the buildings, beautiful bars and local restaurants, the beautiful Atlantic ocean waters that bathe our beaches, the statue of Neptune the king of the seas and the sign of Puerto Plata.
Here we will visit the surroundings of this majestic fortress which was built in the years 1565 to 1577, this was built by the Spaniards in order to protect the city from pirates and privateers who will reach the shores of Puerto Plata, it also functioned as a prison and is one of the main recreational areas of the city, as it has ample space in its surroundings that function as a park, there is also the amphitheater where different activities are carried out during the year. Amazing tour! Beautiful sites!
We were vacationing in Puerto Plata and had an amazing experience with our tour guide, Diomi from Diomi Travels. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions throughout the tour. He also recommended one of the best places to try sancocho, and we all enjoyed it together, which made the experience even more special. One moment that really stood out was when we ran out of cash while shopping for souvenirs at local shops. Without us even asking, Diomi paid out of his own pocket, which was such a kind and thoughtful gesture. Overall, we highly recommend his services. Definitely reach out to him if you want a great tour experience in Puerto Plata. P.S. He also takes amazing pictures! We barely had to take out our phones, and he sent all the photos to us right after the tour.

Diomi provides us with a great personalized tour of Puerto Plata, making us feel at home. Well we had an opportunity to visit places that included purchasing local goods, we also got to see a little bit of real life, even getting to shop at the local grocery store and eating like a local. He is an excellent tour guide, his English is perfect, and I prefer to spend my money on a local guide than someone from the cruise ship booked tour. Five stars, I do recommend, will use again.

Had a city tour Diomi. Probably one of the best tours we’ve done. Very attentive and informative of the area. The places we went to were beautiful. Some included Umbrella Street, Puerto Plata, Jesus statue, Rum Factory, Cigar factory, countryside, pink street, etc. Very nice tour if it’s your first time here to see everything. Very caring to help watch your step (as I am recovering from a broken hip). Great for all ages. Highly recommended and definitely will go on different tours with the company.
