Itinerary
Khor Virap – Armenian monastery, built in 642, translated from Armenian means “deep hole”. Khor Virap is one of the shrines of the Armenian Apostolic Church, a place of pilgrimage. The most interesting fact of this monastery is the fact that it was built on the site of the royal prison, where Gregory the Illuminator was previously imprisoned – the patron saint and the first official head of the Armenian Apostolic Church by the Armenian king for 13 years. From the territory of the monastery there is an unusual view of the biblical mountain Ararat.
Areni is the birthplace of winemaking. Viticulture on the territory of Armenia originated many years before our era. In Armenia, grows a lot of wild vineyard, and a large number of local varieties of grapes. And here there is the oldest winery of Armenia, where you can taste the most delicious wine from the best varieties of grapes.
Areni Cave or Bird Cave is located near the tributary of the Arpa River Gnishik: at 30 m height. It is situated in the rock and comprises a range of spaces, hewn in the rock, linked with narrow aisles. The location of the cave allows everybody to visit it even during the holidays in Armenia. Since 2007 archaeological researches have been held there. As a result, materials dating back to 4200-3500 BC were found: crockery, plant residues, apricot and grape kernels, knitted of reed, pieces of cloth, women jewelry and so on. Several years ago a place, equipped for wine production was found in Bird Cave. This most ancient winery in the world has 5000-5500year history. During the archaeological excavations the oldest shoe in the world was found which was filled with grass to keep the form of the shoe. The laboratory studies showed that the shoe has history of 5637-5387 years.
Monastery Noravank is among the wonderful steep red rocks on the ledge of a meandering gorge. It was founded in the XII century on the site of ancient buildings. Complex Noravank, thanks to the magnificent creations of medieval architects and its location on the background of a beautiful landscape, leaves an indelible impression. It is one of the majestic monuments of the Armenian medieval architecture.
The Shaki Waterfall is situated in the Syunik region. It provides the most relaxing and wonderful ambiance for everyone. On the left side of the river Vorotan, basalt lava flows have solidified to form a ledge 18 meters high from which the waterfall cascades down. Waterfall visit is available from MAR 15 to NOV 15, up to 5:00 pm.
Monastery Tatev is the pearl of the Armenian architecture of the Middle Ages. It is located in South Armenia in the center of the Syunik province, 315 km from Yerevan and 30 km from the city of Goris, on the right bank of the Vorotan River, near the village of Tatev with the same name. The monastery was erected in the 9th – 13th centuries and consecrated in honor of St. Eustathius, a disciple of the Apostle Thaddeus, who, like his teacher, preached Christianity and was martyred for a new faith.
Wings of Tatev is the aerial tramway to the natural and historic treasures of Syunik. Wings of Tatev is: The shortest, most picturesque and impressive route to Tatev Monastery; The longest reversible cableway in the world (5752 m), recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. Winner of world's leading cable car award as per World travel award 2021 Twelve minutes of unforgettable flight above the ravine of the fierce Vorotan River; Celestial highway at the altitude of 320 m; Cutting-edge engineering solutions by Austrian-Swiss Doppelmayr/ Garaventa Group.

We had a great and smooth experience with Jan Armenia Tours! There was a small hiccup related to the car being an electric car and a charger facility co-incidentally not working but it was handled extremely professionally by the driver. Hats off to Davit Tovmasyan and Mary Matevosyan for making our visit memorable!
Thank you for your kind words! We're glad to hear that, despite the minor hiccup, everything went smoothly and was handled professionally. We're thrilled that your experience was memorable, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future!
We did the private tour which included Khor Virap, Tatev, Arnei, Noravank and Shake Waterfall. Our driver was Ruben and did a wonderful job driving us, looking out for us and handling the tickets. We were driven in new BYD SUV which was nice. Weather was great. You must prepared yourself for a long day to hit all these sites in one day but since we were short of time, it was perfect for us.
Thank you so much for travelling with the beautiful, kind and attentive driver and storyteller Tigran on a tour to Tatev. The day trip will be remembered for a long time in an extremely positive way. The colourful places were accompanied by interesting stories and legends. Definitely recommend tour and driver. 10/10.
Hands down one of the best experiences I have ever had with a touring company. Sargis was super knowledgeable and passionate about the history he shared, and Arthur was a fantastic driver. They were on-time, professional and always ensured that I felt comfortable and safe. The office itself was communicative and super easy to work with. They are my first choice for any future tours and transport needs. I was able to experience their airport transfer service, full-day tour and local Yerevan tour as well. Great company and team!
Thank you for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed your trip. We always strive to make every journey unforgettable. We look forward to welcoming you back again!
Another beautiful day with our guide Maryam Margaryan whose company we had requested after our tour with her to Garni and Geghard a few days earlier. On our first stop on our way to Khor Virap, not only were we generously treated to Armenian coffee and dried fruits and nuts by the owner of the place, but we were also greeted by the snowy peak of majestic Mount Ararat. Khor Virap is worth the visit, while Noravank monastery is a real gem that should not be missed. Our guide Maryam was as informative, pleasant and helpful as during our first visit with her, and the driver Ara was very courteous and professional. The whole trip was perfectly well organised by Hyur and up to our expectations.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled you enjoyed your experience with us, and we hope to welcome you back soon on another adventure. Safe travels!
The tour was very interesting and we saw very beautiful places. We felt very safe the whole time with our driver Karen. We had enough time everywhere to take photos and explore the area. We would book a tour with Jan Armenia Tours again at any time. We were very well informed about the pickup and the provider also ensured that everything was in order during the tour. We can highly recommend the tour!
We’re so happy you had such a great time and that you appreciated the attention to detail in our service. Your feedback motivates us to continue delivering top-notch experiences. We look forward to hosting you again!
Pls don’t miss Tatev - the drive from Yerevan to Tatev is really amazing - we pass thru two beautiful mountains, covered fully with snow. It’s a long drive, abt 4 hrs from Yerevan- so start early, by 8am atleast Pls plan your drive back to Yerevan - it gets dark by 6 pm and if the weather is extreme they close the roads in the mountain - I got stuck near the mountain peak - our vehicle was waiting for more than an hour, then I had to stay the night in the mountain (in a motel in nearby village) - Unplanned but the experience was out of the world Tatev rope car was good as well (but the drive to Tatev >>> Tatev) Noravenk monastery was beautiful, placed amidst beautiful mountains - the view and experience was amazing Ara and Lilit from Jan Armenia were really helpful, especially when I got stuck in the mountains. They supported extremely well - Thanks !
We're thrilled to be a part of your memorable experience in Armenia. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again on your next visit. Safe travels!
The best thing you can do whenever in Armenia, I traveled with my daughter and her friends, Armenia is a place worth seeing, but we would not have felt so comfortable if we didn't find Jan support. If I am not mistaken they also ara a TIC in Armenia, however Im not sure about it. But the servicec with tours is something very excellent. We have taken 3 tours with them, one city tour in Yerevan(walking), tour to Noravank and Tatev (cable car also) and transfwr to the airport. My daughter doesnt like long roads (but me and her friends do) but surprisingly the best thing about these trips were that she didn't even feel uncomfortable or bad. Thank you so much for these trips ❤️❤️❤️
Dear Traveler, Thank you for sharing your opinion about our services, it is very important for us. Hope to see you in Armenia again.
Our introduction to JanArmenia started with an airport transfer service. They ordered transfers while in Sheremetyevo, debited JanArmenia via the Internet, stipulated all details and flew to Yerevan. By the way, payment made by the card WORLD!!! The driver greeted us with a smile at the airport as the most precious guests!!! Helped me with my luggage, loaded it all on the trolley and then put it in the trunk! Car - minivan, we were 5 people - clean, air conditioning, soft music, bottled water!!! How nice, from the first minutes of being in Armenia, after a long flight, to feel comfortable and cared for. On the way, at our request, we stopped by to exchange money and then buy food! The cost of the service was not affected, the driver showed us everything with such a warm welcome and waited with a smile for everything to be prepared. It was past midnight, but the driver never rushed us, but on the contrary even specified if there was anything else to do! After this transfer, there was of course confidence and confidence in the high quality and other services from this company. The next morning we were already on our way to Noravank, Choir Virap and Tatev , with the already native JanArmenia. And when a day later decided to visit Garney and Gegard , then the choice of the company that would like to entrust our journey on was in doubt!!!! And this tour and the experience of it paid off, and we went with different employees of this company! Clean and comfortable cars, polite drivers (Henry, for example, is an amazing person, good-natured, open, polite, and also speaks 4 languages) The tour guides, Marianne and Marina, told us so fondly about these places that after each tour you begin to love Armenia and to treat its inhabitants with gratitude, for keeping all this and sharing the wealth and history of their country with an open soul, with every guest! Marianne and Marina- you have upended our idea of Armenia, its inhabitants and history!!! Thank you JanArmenia, for the professionalism, the team you have assembled, for your hard but, bringing happiness to other people, work!!! See you later!!!
Спасибо Вам за такой подробный и прекарасный отзыв! Ваши хорошие впечатления- самое важное в нашей работе! Будем с нетерпением ждать Вас еще в Армении.
Very much happy that I chose this tour operator. Highly recommend who wants to have private tour and enjoy their time in beautiful Armenia.
